His Wagner accomplishment doesn't amount to much more than his HS record either. Their schedule ranked 303rd of 334 teams.
Exactly. They can spin away all they want, anyone calling for Popes head would have been calling for Hurleys head if he had tge same two seasons at UK that he had starting out at UConn. It's hypocritical to deny it

Wait until you see what he does in real games. I could write an article that makes anyone sound like POY.
We will wait until every player gets into actual games. That is an obvious given.

And, no one has confused Mason with a possible POY. This is a message board in the offseason. Discussing players potential value is kind of what this board is good for in the summer.

If you write an article be sure to provide a link.

Some of these guys are scared to death something positive might happen. It’s why they don’t want it talked about.

If Williams plays decent minutes and not because someone is injured, then that is a sign that he is ahead of schedule and a baller already. I never quite understood the logic that we are in trouble if Williams plays this season
Because there is a scenario where he plays out of necessity. Noah can’t/shouldn’t play the 2 (or anywhere until he makes some shots), Morton is limited, Zay was gifted a scholly. If we’re being completely honest, he could stink and be better than those three and see a number of minutes. But yes, the hope is that he’s actually good enough, and not just the tallest midget.

If he can give us 8-10 minutes a game where he’s not an extreme drop off from Zoom, I’ll take it all day.
Honestly not sure he ends up a drop off from Zoom at all. What has Zoom done . He had a grest final month last year stat wise but did Wash even make tourney - with a lottery Center? Mo seens motivated and determined I like him so far

His first 10 games in the B1G he averaged 16 points on 53% shooting and 4.3 assists. Just one snapshot of his season.

He reminds me of a shorter Briscoe who can shoot the ball. The way he is built and can get into the lane. Not super fast, but plays at his own pace. Kinda SGA like in that regard. He dictates the flow with the ball in his hands.

I’ve said from the beginning that he’s very underrated. The shooting splits alone is impressive in itself. Encouraging the hear about how hard of a worker he is as well. I think he’s gonna be solid for us for a few years.

Last years Trent Noah. Remember everyone last year at this time predicting 40% from 3 and grabbing 12 minutes a game. He was unplayable all year.
Some people just never learn it’s every single year with these fluff articles. Mason may be good. He may never see the floor. Off season articles mean less than nothing.

I thought Trent had potential as a freshman. He lost confidence and regressed last season. Its a bottom line equation for Noah, his strength is his shooting. If he is missing wide open shots, he's unplayable

I have a theory about Mason Williams developed from his shooting stats, but much more particularly from watching his videos. I’m guessing Mason was born with a high talent for shooting touch. What I mean by that is a gifted ability to judge distance and adjust his push of the ball to meet that distance – and not just 3pt. shooting, I mean shooting touch from different distances.

I know he’s getting a reputation in KY as a very hard worker, but talent is something you’re born with while skill/ability is something you can hone with work. I think most guys could stay in the gym for years and not develop the shooting touch that M. Williams has.

Now, before anyone accuses me of hyping Mason as being a great player this year, or really any year, that’s not what I’m saying. I’m just focusing on one talent that I think Mason has that may be in the top echelon.

Every single article on KSR, HOB, WKYT, come on man. If you post here. You have read 100 so far this year.
I am not sure you watched the video posted in OP. You are just taking a blind swing at what was said as if it can have no basis. And, you are rejecting what fans and media saw with their own eyes during the scrimmage. What did you read about Mason from those who watched him play?

Why should we pretend we don’t have information?

A lot of that was he was forced to play a different role due to the injuries.

That is a little different. If it’s truly our Fans saying it. As far as I know the team has been open to the public for one practice. There were around 200 there by watching the video. That was this week. This thread, and that video was posted well before this week.
KSR has done about 3 stories on him based on this video.
Im not putting Mason down. I’m just reminding people we do this every year. And we do. For the last 6-7 years we convince ourselves we have studs based on these articles. We haven’t had a true difference maker since SGA.

I heard estimations of 300-400 fans at the practice. I have heard no one say Mason did not play as described in the video in the OP. Repots have been, rather, that both Morton and Williams looked like they will give UK good guard depth.

Why is it surprising a kid who grew up with an NBA dad is good?

This kid has been given every advantage in playing and developing.

It’s not like he came on as a walk on. He was actually a decently ranked player with interest from legit programs.

Specifically for the college game. Which is very different from pro and even high school. The latter two you can error on raw talent and dabble in projects with “higher ceilings…”

The CBB game needs a more well rounded roster.

I dont think anyone is calling for the kid to be the savior of the program, John Wall, and high lottery pick.

If he could be a solid roll player that develops and gets better it will go a long way.

I don't know what all you observed on here since his commitment but a number of posters basically declared him a useless garbage player not even ranked in the top 100 who only got an offer in order to lure his dad here as a coach.

I worry less about him turning the ball over than I do either Zoom or Alex plus I think he's got a better deepshot than either. He's got game, for sure

He's a 4 star recruit that's gonna be in his first year . Little dif than Noah . Anyone expecting greatness from Noah last year wasn't paying attention
