It seemed like school size mattered that instance maiden is always in the talk of top teams in our classification. And we are just small little maiden. Understand I got a lot of love for Maiden, my family is from Maiden, Shannon Wingate Jr is my cousin, that’s my uncle son, I actually root for Maiden, but I’m just being honest, Hickory last state championship was 2023, and I agree with you pertaining to numbers because it does matter, I’ve never disputed that point with you. And yes, West Charlotte had more numbers than us, from my understanding the high school association used woke policies to allow West Charlotte to be in 3A that year based on economic factors and how well other sports performed. That year Hickory was about 1195 students, West Charlotte 1850. But I never complained about that game we played our worse game that night. We had some bad turnovers in that game, no excuses.

Everyone understands the point saying hickory and maiden are like comparing apples to apples is not honest. And my post said playing or being. I didn't say your were. And it's not apples to apples because numbers matter in quality depth. When u can cycle in good quality back ups and keep everyone fresh, u will wear down a smaller team over the game. East Lincoln did it to us last season. U could just see it happen and nothing you could do about it.

Was able to locate a couple of links from the News Reporter (Newspaper serving Whiteville and Columbus County, NC) and the UNC Wilmington Digital Library.

I was working and couldn't go to this game. It was broadcasted on WNNC radio from Newton, but early in the evening they would cut their power down and it was hard to pick up in Lincolnton. Was able to get bits and pieces enough to know that Maiden was doing well and it was a sound win for them.

Recall talking to a man who had driven up with his family for the game, and they were staying at a hotel in Lincolnton. He was very disappointed.

The links are directly from newspaper copy and aren't the most legible. They do better if maximized. If that doesn't help, using AI might clear it up some.

We did last night and competed.

After watching scrimmage film a third time all the way through I'll say this. It's not near as bad as "the crowd" makes it out to be.

A few missed assignments here and there along the line, some footwork issues, it can be fixed. Several dropped passes by WRs that definitely could have been caught. RB did much better job lowering his shoulder through the hole. QB read the field well for the most part, his footwork in the pocket was way better than I anticipated.

Maiden will be just fine. New offensive system in place. Almost no mixups on any of the play calls. Kids soak up knowledge quick.

Reagan is real damn good. Their DEs control the LOS and their LBs fit well.

Didn't pay attention to the defense at all. I know Reagan scored a couple times. I know we still swarm pretty darn good too.

Prayers for a speedy recovery to the Reagan RB that broke his collar bone.

I am not a fan of either team, but WC and some similar schools playing in the level/class of playoffs they got to participate in was screwed up in a lot of ways. Definitely changed some banners being hung around the state.

He is good back not sure of his 40 time. This year he will start to get offers .

They knocked out a favored Mooresville team. I know Reagan will cause some problems this year with even lot of good teams. Evan is the real deal as a RB and he’s fast and quick. On their roster he is listed as a Jr at 5’11 210lbs

Kinda excited to go to Kannapolis…I haven’t been there in forever. Have a buddy who went there last month to a live music event at a park. He said that park just might be the nicest one in the entire state. Who knew?

Here are few suggested places.
Sometimes I will stop at What A Burger in Kannaspolis. There are 2 locations. One on 1510 Cannon Blvd. And 926 S. main. Usually 926 on S Main is where I usually stop at. Then there is EL Amigo Mexican if you are into Mexican food. Then there is K Town Pub & Pizza. on 924 S Main Kannaspolis. They have wings and burgers, salads, sandwich items. As for myself I usually end up going to Gary’s BBQ in China Grove then make my way to Kannaspolis. lol
If I didn’t work I would go to this scrimmage.

I wanted to go to Burns to see them and ER but the way the storms looked I doubted they would get to play.

Run down of scrimmage just my opinion of what I saw. Some may be harsh some a little nicer

North iredell not much nice to say they looked pretty bad. They were constantly fumbling pitches on offense and on defense couldn't stop much of anything . Newton and South Iredell was moving ball pretty much at will.
South Caldwell was surprising. Better than I thought.
First 10s they scored on Newton twice
On defense the started rough but tightened up.
Newton on 10s score 3 or 4 times speed kills and QB looked to have an accurate pass when clean.
Newton defense wasn't to impressed with exception of a couple players.
Now we get to live game situation which was only between Newton and South Caldwell.
The final was south Caldwell 7 Newton 0
South Caldwell defense hulked up at the end of scrimmage. Held Newton at goal line at the end.

And lastly ran into coach hinson was nice to see him and wish him the best. Surprisingly also saw another person and conversation was more pleasant than I would figured it would be. Didn't seem like a bad guy .
