If you work for a company, particularly larger public corporations then it helps tremendously to get a good boss or bosses who can mentor you and support you. Bad bosses are the death knell in a lot of cases. Also, you have to be politically savvy which unfortunately means talking a good game not necessarily a dedicated worker who gets things done. These are things no college class will teach you or prepare you for.Anyone who can think analytically and critically regardless of their major is employable. Employers want people who can solve problems in their organization.
If your net worth is $25 million then the $50,000 annual cost per student at Malvern Prep is not a concern. For the 2026–2027 school year, annual tuition at Malvern Preparatory School is $45,335 for the Upper School (grades 9–12) and $38,430 for the Middle School (grades 6–8).
And then you need to add in the ancillary fees…textbooks, uniforms, specialized field trips, and certain extracurricular activities. Oh, and don’t forget the expected contribution (per child) during the annual fundraiser.
Dude, you’re looking at $60,000 per year per child on the light side.
If that’s how you and moms want to burn through your $25 million net worth, go for it.![]()

Potentially Epic.
That's Manheim Central. Right church, wrong pew. Getting back to a college degree. The wealthiest guy I know well has only a HS degree. Worked his way from the bottom up to 1/2 owner of 14 car dealerships, and more importantly the real estate on which they sit. Has since sold the dealerships, and now just sits back eats a gummy, golfs, and collects his checks. And they can learn to become auto auctioneers![]()

I told mine the same. Business no longer cuts it as it limits ones options. They'll take a chance on an engineer if the grades are good in business or other fields.I told my sons you have to study a major that translate into a career (or pay for it yourself)
If you want to do art, do it when you get home from work.
My Uncle Ben was a professor of History at Vassar as well.I have a second cousin who is a professor at Vassar.
