This is completely fair. It wasn't an 18 year olds job to stand up to his dad or uncle...that was Rhule's job. Rhule and his 10 million couldn't communicate proper boundaries and now the kids is being dragged under the bus.

I guess that’s my point - how would one know how the locker room responds unless you are there in the locker room. Not saying you are wrong -DR did give prima donna vibes - but team chemistry can be disrupted in so many ways. In any event, a fresh start at QB breeds optimism and AC appears much more mature, I agree.Ich habe keine evidence. I base my opinion on my gut feelings on how a locker room responds to prima donas, and on the uninspired product on the field and in the fact that the other players rarely showed any emotion towards Raiola
I don't really care at all about DR but everything he said is true. Oregon is beautiful, stunning in terms of a natural environment. I've worked in every county in Nebraska and have visit Oregon many times. Nebraska as a landscape is disgusting, especially the eastern side of the state. Literally a landscape scarred and destroyed by farming for centuries The western part of the state is much more beautiful but not in comparison to Oregon.

Dylan is one of the most overhyped players in NU history. Good arm and accurate under 10 yards, those are his 2 good qualities. He was never the “leader” of this team; he has no leadership qualities. Can’t read a defense, zero pocket presence, lacks downfield accuracy, and has a spare tire around his waste. Unless he starts giving a damn, he isn’t going pro, which he may be good with since he’s sitting on millions of ill-gotten gains.I don't really care at all about DR but everything he said is true. Oregon was in the final four last year and continues to build talent. Their head coach is one of the best in the game. They are more talented at every position. Dylan left Nebraska to be a backup and to learn and develop. I don't see that as him being selfish or domineering. I assume some of those "rumors" are coming out because Nebraska got dumped predictably by their only talented player.
Last October he was the leader of the team, we were 6-3, driving to go up on USC to go to 7-3, a possibility to win 9 games. He breaks his leg...people get excited for a more electric backup. We beat UCLA, everybody dumps Dylan...then the bottom falls out and Dylan dumps us. "We didn't want him anyway", "he didn't do that much anyway", "we'll be better off without him". Butthurt comments. He has statistically been one of the best qbs in the sport since he started as a true freshman. It wasn't an 18 year olds job to stand up to his dad or uncle...that was Rhule's job. Rhule and his 10 million couldn't communicate proper boundaries and now the kids is being dragged under the bus.
Watch the Minnesota game from last year.... thats says it all . Proved that Raiola isn't a good QB fit for the system and Holgerson isn't any good at adjusting the the offensive scheme at half time.Exactly. There were many, many, many times when Raiola could have escaped a sack if he had just tucked the ball and run for even 2 or 3 yards. And there were numerous times he actually had open green turf ahead of him but he chose to hang onto the ball and stand like a frozen statue for 3 more seconds until the pocket finally did collapse around him. He is one of our most overrated recruits ever.
What system?Watch the Minnesota game from last year.... thats says it all . Proved that Raiola isn't a good QB fit for the system and Holgerson isn't any good at adjusting the the offensive scheme at half time.
I don't disagree with your assessment but...I think we have a little bit of tunnel vision with Dylan, and he is more of a symptom of the overall quality of qbs in college. College qbs as a whole are not good at reading defenses because they do not have to. They in general are not great in the pocket because there aren't pocket systems anymore. They don't have to throw downfield into two deep coverage while facing a pass rush any more. The #1 pick in the NFL lead the nation the last two years in bubble screens and RPO passes...he went from a qb with stats very similar to Dylan, if not a little worse to the heisman winner because he had a great oline and a dominant run game.Dylan is one of the most overhyped players in NU history. Callahan and Sipple said on their podcast yesterday that Dylan might not even win the backup job at Oregon, he's rumored to be 3rd atm.
That's true for mobile QBs, but not pocket passers. If there is no longer a 'pocket passer' category, then a lack of speed is a huge liability. If you have a five year Marino clone, does he have much chance to develop into a QB, or is he pitching instead? It has to be much easier to take the fastest kid and put him at QB and win games. This is all that is expected of qbs. His major weakness was foot speed and this is a big weakness.
I think if you look at college football everybody is trying to get a dual threat. Dylan was probably overrated because he had such poor mobility but he can probably improve his footwork, maybe. Footwork is much more important than speed or running ability, his footwork was atrocious when he got to Nebraska and didn't improve. I assume this lack of development is why he is willing to lose millions and sit on the bench. Getting real coaching, and real accountability is his only chance. The sad part is that I don’t think he’s as unathletic as his fear of taking a hit makes him look. I still believe he’s athletic enough at that size to be an efficient runner in scramble situations. He didn’t have to be Crouch to move the chains.I think if you look at college football everybody is trying to get a dual threat. 31 touchdowns, 5000 yards, 70% completion percentage, two bowl games, two OCs, in 1.5 seasons as a true freshman and soph. Those are historically great numbers at NU. Team was 13-9 with him, 1-3 with an average margin of defeat of 20 ppg without him. The main argument against him is as an 18 and 19 year old he wore flashy shoes, was a pre-Madonna, and liked girls. People hate him because his dad and uncle took advantage of his talent and Rhule allowed it. Sounds like the hate is unreasonable. But, he allegedly had professional coaching on the side? Maybe he was humbled enough to buy in now to suggestions he ignored before?
What I do know is that he greatly under-achieved my hopes and expectations.
He could have at his size. The one time he tried he broke his fibula and fumbled. Had the first down otherwise. Hate to use Kong’s favorite word, but I’m afraid Dylan is in fact “soft”.I mean, he has NFL lineman genes, I expected him to be willing to truck safeties at least?

I literally quit reading once I saw that. I am a snooty old snoot, but ignorance or stupidity will undermine any argument, no matter how good you may think it is.
My main concern with his play was it didn’t look like he had his old man’s competitive burn. Dom would tear in to guys that outweighed him by 50lbs. THAT dude I guarantee would have found a way to get you 4 yards and a first down with his feet when you had to have it. Dylan admitted he hated contact. Not a good quality in a P4 QB. I don’t really care about the other stuff. Go balls to the wall with in game effort and I’m good. Raiola admitted he didn't want to play football and only played baseball in his youth because he was afraid of getting hit in an interview with Will Compton.I mean, he has NFL lineman genes, I expected him to be willing to truck safeties at least?

They basically do basic pre-reads and get the ball out to the sideline as quickly as possible, or if this is defended throw into the middle of the field less than 10 yards. They will also do play action and throw to a single covered player going against a safety or linebacker. Dylan was fine in these areas...sideline, middle of field against zone, and touch passes against single coverage. This is all that is expected of qbs. His major weakness was foot speed and this is a big weakness. If he doesn't make it in the NFL it will come down to this physical weakness rather than any "mental" thing or lack of leadership.
I guarantee we see people in the forum this fall complaining, "can anybody play qb anymore?". Colandrea will have the same problems if not worse with INTs, throwing accuracy, reading defenses, downfield passing. Running a sophisticated offense takes thousands of hours in the system with your wrs and consistent and trustworthy oline play. That just doesn't exist in craptastic college football anymore.

He just isn't very good. Some arm talent and size, but no mobility, doesn't step into throws, takes too long to throw, etc. There are tons of 5 star players that turn out to be far less and they end up transferring around, eventually to lower division schools. Then there are lots of guys who were underrated (Emmett Johnson, for instance).This. Wasn't his tenure at NU the longest he ever stayed anywhere? And he was treated much better here than he will be in Oregon.
That whole family is whack.
I walked beans at my great uncle’s farm near Albion. Hated it but he gave me home brewed beer without my parents around. I was only 10 or so which made that a sweet deal in my eyes. I hated walking beans though. One year I was using a hoe and it was muddy as hell. I was barefoot because my boots kept getting stuck in the mud. Came down with the hoe and hacked into three of my toes. Blood gushing everywhere. My older brother carried me back. Got stitches. And more beer. Here is an aside to this all.
My parents got me a paper route, and assisted me in harsh conditions. I did this for nearly 3 years.
We had an acreage outside Lincoln in 1968. The owner of the other 570 acres asked me if I would like to make money walking beans.
Life before round up ready crops.
Walking beans was a calming thing.
Hated thistles
I don't remember Dom when he was 18 and leading a team of grown men, and incompetent coaches. Nebraska's 2023 offense was one of the worst in history and he had to walk in as a true freshman and take that on. He had Satt as an OC, his uncle as an oline coach. He performed admirably publicly, in the media, and on the field considering. I never expected him to last more than two years. If everything went perfect he would have been drafted, if everything didn't go perfect he would transfer to try to win something and get better coaching. It was always going to be the latter and we all knew it. He was actually one of the few top qbs to even return to their team after one season, which is pretty impressive. My main concern with his play was it didn’t look like he had his old man’s competitive burn. Dom would tear in to guys that outweighed him by 50lbs. THAT dude I guarantee would have found a way to get you 4 yards and a first down with his feet when you had to have it. It is my understanding that Rhule got a 13 million NIL deal. I don't think we should worry about players getting too much when the guy who does nothing gets more than the entire defense combined. He just isn't very good. Some arm talent and size, but no mobility, doesn't step into throws, takes too long to throw, etc. There are tons of 5 star players that turn out to be far less and they end up transferring around, eventually to lower division schools. Then there are lots of guys who were underrated (Emmett Johnson, for instance).
I was glad t move on from him and it was clear that basically the entire team had as well. I know that stung Dylan but it was better for Nebraska and for him. We were overpaying him in NIL and catering to him and his family and it needed to end. Had he been that 5-star player you would have seen Georgia and other schools going after him with big NIL offers. Backup at Oregon was the best option he had. Oregon gets a seasoned vet at QB that can step in IF Moore gets injured or to play some mop-up time. But even in mop-up time they will want to give younger QBs reps sine they have a highe ceiling long term.
Yet you keep reading and responding to my grammatical mistakes despite telling me multiple times that you don't read my stuff because I am too stupid for your time? Ah yes, the good old days!Pennsy, my brother, also adopted, did it with me in 1973.
I was a year older.
We took to throwing the shatter cane at each other, we yelled and were looking at each other.
I hit him and he came at me with his machete. He never walked beans again.
