That’s about right. Went by there on Thursday I think it was. From the top looking down at the field it was a little hard to count. It’s about 20 more than we’ve been having.

I am ready for the season! What are the best gaston counte scrimmages tonight? Cleveland county doesn't know what's coming this year.

I still don't like Forbush. Lost too them twice in high school both times as pretty big favorites.
One of the Carolina varsity guys gonna be there covering the scrimmage also

Considering both Lincolnton and South point, and since this is only a scrimmage, I would guess both coaching staffs will be very concerned about lower leg injuries on the line.
Lincolnton scored the first 3 times they touched the ball. Defense kept South Point out of the end zone. Jvs are playing now with Varsity going back out later.
Prayers for us tonight guys, had a kid snap his leg just now. Awful

This team is absolutely stacked along both the OL & DL. Stacked at RB and WR. Secondary has some things to correct but that's why we play these scrimmages. Overall good first game for us

I hate to hear that. Prayers to that kid & CramerAlright Lincolnton guys give it to me straight. I have heard from some Belmont guys you guys gave them the business tonight. Is it true?
Also everyone can sleep easy tonight in 4A, Forbush is not winning the state.

The South Point-Lincolnton scrimmage was fun to watch. Good to see some contact football, and there was a big crowd, too.
Most of Lincolnton’s scoring was done in the first half. Bushleague is correct in that we scored the first few times. Seems like we got flagged on one of them, and got intercepted a couple of times throughout the entire scrimmage. Think SP got intercepted a time or two as well.
In the second half, South Point looked a lots more like South Point .They were gaining chunks of yardage on us and drove deep into our territory and scored. Think they did fumble on this drive but fumbles, interceptions and penalties were not counted, and neither was the score kept. We came close to scoring a couple of times in the second period but I don’t think we did, could be wrong on that.

Personal thoughts: I felt like Lincolnton might’ve been a little faster than South Point, and matched up with them in size.
In a regulation game, I would give Lincolnton a slight edge and pick them to win by narrow margin. I noticed South Point has considerably more players and unless I’m mistaken, which I don’t think I am here. They were using a two platoon system. In a typical game this is going to have an effect sooner or later. Especially in the early season and in hot weather like tonight.
Glad that so many people from Belmont and the South Point area made it up here. I’ve always liked their program and people.

Side Note: just like to say how fortunate teams are who have very much depth. Shelby has depth like South Point, but I can’t think of anyone else in 3A, in this area with so much depth, however, there is a team within an hour from here, in the 4A classification, whose name I will not mention because they were recently blessed with a number of transfers, and since transfers seem to be a point of contention on these message boards I better not mention the name of this team. If you are extremely curious, I can tell you the name of this team rhymes with Skybriten.

East should have dominated WL. I think Saint was involved in that scrimmage as well. EL should of scored at will on them teams
It’s been a very long time since we had this much depth without missing a beat. A player came off the sideline and had just as much talent as the person he replaced multiple times. If we put it all together it’s going to be fun to watch.
Oh, forgot to mention the JV’s. We had what looked to be about 15 JV players. South Point had 200. Well, maybe not quite that many, but theY did look to have as many as the varsity.
Not sure who might have outdid the other because I didn’t pay as close attention to them as the varsity teams, but Lincolnton bowed up, and held their own, and maybe then some. Our defense was tough and gritty, and the quarterback in my opinion is special. Not sure if he is a freshman or sophomore, but just wanted to give props to the JV’S

A Coach told me the JV had 11 players that couldn’t scrimmage because they missed 1 practice. So that’s the only reason they had 15 players.
because I saw that…… I was like how do you only have 15 players lol. But then I saw a bunch of players in street clothes on the sidelines.
said the varsity had 3 players that couldn’t scrimmage. Because they missed a practice. 2 of them were starters.
also noted. After the 2nd TD 80 yards out. They shrink the offensive play script immediately.
It’s just a scrimmage. I liked what I saw. I left the stadium impressed.
I think South Point is down this year. They lost a 4 year starter at QB. I think losing Blee to graduation is going to hurt them. Anytime you lose a 4 year starter. You can’t replace that. Especially at QB

About South Point being down, don’t be deceived. They’re one of the premier programs in North Carolina. They know how to develop players for certain roles.
In 2015, they played for the state title and lost to Rocky Mount in overtime 24-21…The next season 2016 they were something like 2-4 after September (one of the losses being to us in OT). Lots of posters had written them off as having a down year. They would go on a ten game winning streak to win the state title and against none other than Rocky Mount.
*Postscript: For how much or little a preseason poll means, South Point is ranked #2 in the 5A classification by MaxPreps.

A couple years ago Shelby played Weddington in a JV game at Shelby. Weddington dressed out 65 to 70 players and rotated two 6-4 QBs. Needless to say it was not pretty.
Not a whole lot to report on Cramer. We were playing an inferior team, we scored every time we had the ball and they never got inside the 20 yard line. From the sounds coming out of CC we will have our hands full with KM and the Freshman Phenom so should have a better understanding of where we are next Friday.
I am always curious to the scrimmage mindset and philosophy. As a smaller team it is a major benefit to play up in competition before the start of the season. I know some of the scrimmages are relational. What is the benefit for the bigger schools playing smaller schools in scrimmage? A few years ago, Lincolnton's scrimmage partners were subpar and that is putting it mildly especially when you had as I like to call them South Charlotte (South Point) and NW Meck (East Lincoln) right out the gate. Playing a Weddington helps when you are starting the season with KM, Crest, and AC Reynolds.
Guys thanks for the thoughts and likes for the kid from Cramer. Update on him. He actually only dislocated his ankle and they were able to put it back in place at the hospital and now they are saying he should be back in 4-5 weeks. Thanks again
We did ok. Don't think our 1s gave up a td. Game situation was 13-7 us. Fumbled another score out of end zone reaching for pylon.
