You must not have watched the NBA in the 70s and 80s.
One has absolutely nothing to do with the other. They werent blatantly trying to end careers because of differences in opinions back then.

When talking about the NBA, posters say current players wouldn't have survived in the 70s and 80s version of the league. They seem proud that back then players got into fights, took occasional cheap shots, and lived for rough plays. But if you bring up the WNBA, those same posters act like protective fathers and these women need to be sheltered. Professional athletes don't need our protection and can take care of themselves.
Rough play in an old version of the NBA = That's what I wanna see! I miss that! We need that in today's league!

Who cares? Its best to just pretend like the league doesn't exist. This board is my only reminder that they are playing.
It's a kind of foul that happens in basketball leagues all over the world. The player that has it happen to them should be allowed to be pissed off. You can't be allowed to retaliate though because, again, it's just a foul that happens from time to time. She was rightfully removed from the game.

The WNBA has to be one of the dumbest, misguided and incompetently run organizations in all of sports. They constantly shoot themselves in the foot with how they act or the statements they make.
The stupid part is she is now crying White Privilege, when she should be suspended for her actions for a few games.
To me it exemplifies the physicality that defines basketball at all levels has resulted in the diminution of its beauty. When the women try to emulate the men it looks like the old Roller Derby that used to play on tv back in the 60’s-70’s

I watched wrestling in the 80's. It was top notch. I havent watched a single episode since the 90's after McMahon completely destroyed it. Indiana Fever games remind me of the old days so I'm back in the game when they play only. lol

This kind of play was horse apples then and it is the same now. Why is the NBA no longer like that., because the league fans and players QUIT TOLERATING IT. Also the times are different , IMO today's fan will absolutely reject this type of play. The racial undertones of this are real and obvious to anyone with ears and eyes. The WNBA seems to think their WWE strategy will increase their exposure. I don't think so.

Outside of the interest in Caitlyn Clark, I’ve yet to meet a WNBA fan that watches it for anything other than to make some kind of a point. You know the kind of people that have their head so deep up politics that it’s the only thing they think about? The kind that hate everyone who doesn’t share their same political viewpoints on every subtle issue? Literally the only type of person I’ve ever seen that was hardcore into the WNBA. I’d have zero interest to start with but those kind of people make it impossible to want to have any interest.
I’ll also add that I’ve never seen a “WNBA fan” that isn’t better than you and smarter than you in every facet. They’re here to educate you and remind you how simple-minded you are.

It will have to be all or nothing.

I agree with this. But at times sports fans talk out of both sides of their mouth. You see it often when the topic of the NBA comes up. There's a pining for the NBA of the 70s and 80s and those epic battles between players and how today's player is soft and wouldn't be able to handle it. Then you watch a clip of one of those battles and it's seconds away from a fist fight with one guy literally throwing another to the floor. It's not a play on the ball yet a sports fan who doesn't like today's NBA will praise it as toughness and such.
As far as the WNBA goes, I think there's an overreaction and overprotection of certain players by sports fans who see a play here and there and have made the determination that everyone hates the player as if it's a grand conspiracy. I'm not sure that's the case but I will say the league and some of it's players aren't helping their image lately. Clark should be the face of the league but she's an adult who can handle herself. She or anyone else doesn't need part-time fans protecting her online. But yeah, there's probably too much jawing right now in the WNBA and it's causing a bit of drama. Does that help ratings? Who knows. What I do know is in a few weeks when football begins, you likely won't see anymore WNBA talk here or elsewhere because it's the WNBA and right now I kind of think people are pretending to care.
I miss the good ole days when guys didn’t pretend to care about the WNBA.
The wigs and full makeup are enough reason to close down the WNBA.

I always enjoy when football season starts so espn and Outkick and Clay Travis and everyone remembers football is king. Wnba drama is dogs day of summer nonsense. Nothing more
Come on guys, we should also sympathize with Dijonai Carrington's wife. Think of all the complaining and moaning she will have to listen to over the next couple of days from Dijonai.
Sophie has some bad teammates (and her woke coach is trash as she did not stand up for her after the game). The first one that was credited held her arms to wrap her up but left her exposed to Carrington in the middle of the altercation. Then when Sophie was clapping at the ejection, her other teammate pushed her away.
