No. 14 USC loses starting center Kilian O'Connor to season-ending knee injury in practice

A USC offense with big expectations has suffered a tough blow just weeks before the season-opener against San Jose State on Aug. 29. Starting center Kilian O'Connor suffered a season-ending knee injury in practice on Wednesday, Lincoln Riley announced.

Riley described the incident as a "non-contact kind of freak injury" and confirmed that O'Connor won't take the field in 2026. The Trojans coach said it was a tough pill to swallow given O'Connor's journey from walk-on to starting center.

Completely irrelevant for our game against them. Their entire two deep would have to get hurt. Not sure that would do it.

One player on an opposing team is out and that increases our Vegas odds by a whole win? That doesn’t make a lot of sense does it?

Our over under is 4.5 but it’s been incredibly juiced at -150 to -170. Translation- if they could make the over under 5 they would. At 5.5 it’s more likely +130 or so. Long story short, the number really hasn’t moved

Correct, with very high juice. They’re daring you to take the over and charging you a large premium to take the under. It’s not very different from a 4.5 win total where the over is -165 and the under is +145. From Circa…

With 4.5 odds - they are clearly just penciling in Indiana, Michigan, PSU, and USC as losses. We haven’t beat Wisconsin or Nebraska since joining the BIG so they’re penciling those in as losses too and starting us at 2-6 (UMass and Howard will be wins).

They figure BC, NW, Maryland, Michigan State are all going to be 50/50ish game odds. So 2-2 would have to be the default expectation but 3-1 is possible and 4-0 not out of the question. Hence 4.5 was the opening line.

It makes sense if you're trying to get sucker money from RU fans.
Vegas is aiming for even bets on both sides. I’m not sure what number that equates with but the point I was making is that one injury on one team we’re playing who will still be heavily favored to beat us even without that player isn’t likely to be the difference maker on win count perception in aggregate.
