Florida state fans seem to think the big ten wants themDoes anybody actually still want Florida state though?
FSU put one of it's worst teams on the field last year - and still averaged ~700,000 more eyeballs a game than Iowa.Florida state fans seem to think the big ten wants them

Should be easy, there are 700,000 of them!
FSU just doesn't move the needle like Rutgers, Maryland, and Nebraska.Should be easy, there are 700,000 of them!
Well, we might move the needle, but we certainly haven't moved the ball better than any of those three lately.FSU just doesn't move the needle like Rutgers, Maryland, and Nebraska.
Belem: If you said it's all about money, I would have a hard time disagreeing with you. FSU draws eyeballs, and probably has a good shot at getting into either the SEC or the B1G if that is the way they want to go. The payouts to SEC and B1G member schools are clearly higher than they are to ACC schools. But query whether the SEC or B1G would make FSU labor under a reduced share for a number of years as a condition of joining.FSU put one of it's worst teams on the field last year - and still averaged ~700,000 more eyeballs a game than Iowa.
The folks with the $$$$ care. And they're the only ones who matter, unfortunately.
The B1G doesn't have a school in Florida, the nation's 3rd most populous state and arguably the best high school football recruiting state in the country (yes, I see you Texas). And even in a crappy season, FSU was still one of the ACC's biggest television draws. Networks don't care whether people tune in because they love you or hope you lose, they care that they tune in.Florida state fans seem to think the big ten wants them

Who needs a school in florida when all your alumni retire there? The B1G doesn't have a school in Florida, the nation's 3rd most populous state and arguably the best high school football recruiting state in the country (yes, I see you Texas). So, adding FSU gives the B1G premium TV inventory like OSU–FSU, Michigan–FSU, Penn State–FSU, Oregon–FSU, etc. and eyeballs. Now, does that guarantee they invites FSU? Nope. But pretending they wouldn't have interest ignores what has driven every major round of realignment over the last decade--![]()

Lastly, these super conferences are becoming an unwieldy agglomeration of schools that have no history of playing each other and no natural, geographical connection to each other. Travel to games becomes more costly, and more burdensome on student-athletes' schedules. This matters less in football, which is one game per week, but it matters a lot for other sports like basketball, which feature multiple games per week.
Would you even WANT your Seminoles to move to the B1G? My sturdy Golden Bears are, along with Stanford, playing in the ACC and getting a very reduced payout for the privilege. The travel is absurd. I would much prefer it if Cal and Stanford bailed on the ACC and went back to the reformulated Pac-10 or 12, but that is certainly not my call.
On one hand, the travel sucks for the students. The B1G doesn't have a school in Florida, the nation's 3rd most populous state and arguably the best high school football recruiting state in the country (yes, I see you Texas). On the other, I've gotten to see FSU teams play several times over the past 2 years!
LOL, you're right. I tacked that final paragraph on as an afterthought, which made the intro to the penultimate paragraph problematic. I'm fixing it. By the same token, you need to put those exclamation marks inside your quotation marks.![]()
You can't have a paragraph after "Lastly"!!!
Purdue feels left out.FSU just doesn't move the needle like Rutgers, Maryland, and Nebraska.
What would that do to Tobacco Road/ACC basketball? Heaven forfend!Carolina likely ends up in the SEC.![]()
Nah, Purdue is here to win championships.Purdue feels left out.

I like SMU's stadium. You're right about their students/crowd though. They do have some really attractive rich girls though.![]()
I agree

Yup. I went to SMU and watched us get smeared up and down the field. (butthole student body too). Going back in 2028 too.

They were just pointing which way to kick the soccer ball. They stopped the game twice for students throwing crap at the FSU bench. Then afterwards a bunch of twatwaffles were taunting an elderly FSU couple, then in the restroom they were taunting my son (11 at the time) w/ the Tomahawk chop right at his face while he's trying to take a piss.

The SEC might take dook for the basketball cachet. Having UNC, dook, and UK under one umbrella would be interesting. They do field a better football team than UNC lately but that’s not saying much. Nobody else in the ACC really matters. Losing Wake or NCSU won’t keep anyone up at night. What would that do to Tobacco Road/ACC basketball? Heaven forfend!

The Stanford/FSU game was the most miserable football experience that I have had since the OU game at the Orange Bowl. At least Oregon had the decency to crush all hope for a win by the second quarter at the Rose Bowl.Wife asked if I wanted to go to the Stanford football game. I laughed.
We did go see the softball team play Stanford and man, they've earned that reputation of as.shole fans.
I went to a football game at Stanford once upon a time back in 2016. It was CMC's last season. Vs Oregon State. He had 199 yards rushing in maybe the quietest big-time performance I've seen. I didn't notice the fans being as.holes. If anything it was a bunch of hippies. Their band was a lot of fun to pay attention to.Wife asked if I wanted to go to the Stanford football game. I laughed.

I think all this realignment sucks, but I'm old and no one cares what I think.
