Just tired of the pre-season BS where "experts" rank teams for top 25, standing in conference, wine-loss record, blah blah blah. Most of the top teams anymore don't resemble last years teams due to the portal, etc. Does anyone keep track of the predictions? Can anyone objectively evaluate the accuracy of the pre-season predictions vs. the actual outcomes? Who is the biggest BSer out there? Is anyone any good at this or is it all just hype and click bait? Just getting too bored waiting for real football.

Good question.

Nobody takes preseason polls seriously including the people making them. Its just chum - pebbles in the pond for ripples to kick things off - give readers a goose. Polls aren't remotely worth looking at until midseason when the teases start to belly flop. Nobody really had Indiana taking the prize last year

But the polls do matter and do impact teams chances of making a playoff.

In preseason? Even in-season, early start most teams are playing cupcakes with little juice in polls. Its all fairy dust.

Even Google AI gets this one

"College football polls like the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll matter most for building early-season national narrative and expectations, but they do not directly select the postseason. The only rankings that officially determine the 12-team playoff field and seedings come from the College Football Playoff selection committee, which begins its weekly reveals on Nov 3
