Let’s try to predict Iowa’s record through the first 6 games as that’s probably borderline the most crucial part of the season and yes I understand that all games are important but this could set the tone and stage for big things or maybe demoralize the season.

I say Iowa (Gold and Black glasses) of course … I say Iowa beats Michigan and Washington but loses to OSU…

Will see? But that’s why they play the game and curious what other Hawkeye fans feel? Doom or gloom? I just think they have an underrated team.

GO HAWKS!!!

Ugh. It’s tough to make predictions before the season starts. You never know what is going to happen. I hope you are right, and this is an underrated team!

I am always nervous about predicting a win over ISU, but if the Hawks lose that game it is going to be a long season. I’ll say they will beat Michigan but lose to Washington (West Coast woes), and Ohio State. Naturally I hope I’m wrong about the losses!

4-2, we all get hyped about playoff potential and then we blow it to Illinois on the road in the 2nd to last game of the season.

Time will tell.
Not as worried about the DL as some because we have Phil and no one else does.
Wish we hadn't lost LaVar.

3-3.

We can regroup, though, for the second half of the season and really come into our own and go 5-1 down the stretch, then wait & see which bowl game wants us and our contingent of fans.

what if iowa beats mi, osu, and washington but drops a couple later on to say mn and ne. do we get into the playoffs?
Early losses seem to be easier to overcome compared to late losses. I think 2 losses is the threshold, but a 2nd loss to Debby might be the death knelt.

i would happily accept a loss to ne if we still make it but it would be truly horrible if they kicked our balls out of the playoffs ... that would be the worst

1. Northern Illinois = Win
2. Iowa State = Win
3. UNI = Win
4. @ Michigan = Win
5. Ohio State = Loss
6. @ Washington = Loss

This all assumes we have the standard QB doesn't look like he has ever played the game before in the first 3, so we pound the rock and play aggressive defense with good to great specials.

If the QB is above average, specials are great, and defense is better than expected, MAYBE we surprise OSU at home. It has happened before and I like to dream. There is like a 1% chance we win out in Seattle, on a Friday night.

So upside is 5-1. My guess is 4-2. Floor is 3-3.

Valid question and could happen but I doubt it as if they beat these teams I don’t think they will have a hiccup the rest of the season… I could be wrong though

Thinking that also with 4-2.....
Many variables going in that week vs. Illinois 2 big yet obvious are: 1. How are the illini doing? They may only have 2 losses too....
2. But we play some damn good football in November historically

I like our chances if the time comes.

Until then, beat NIU. Go hawks

With Michigan, Kirk will be basically coaching against a coach that thinks just like him.
I don’t see a W at Michigan due to this. It’s like Michigan went back in time to find Bo 2.0 with tough line play and an offense that isn’t afraid to open it up, unlike KF. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out. 3-3 with tough losses to Michigan, tOSU, and with the Washington due to the west coast curse.

3-3 unfortunately.

I'd give us the edge vs. Michigan and Washington at Kinnick, but at the Big House is rough, and traveling to the West Coast is kryptonite for Iowa. Ohio State could run the conference, we'd need a 2017-like miracle.

That said, after the first 6 we could win out and end up right where we're ranked preseason.

Start out 4-2 then win out.

Don't kill me... 3-3 at best is my honest prediction. I still think we can go above .500 but I don't like all the questions on this team.

That’s the “great northwest” so Washington doesn’t count lol jk
