You must be new around here…How so?
Are you aware that CPS has literally zero boundaries other than the person has to live in ten city of Chicago…I dont understand the debate. I want to type a long diatribe but Ill keep it short.
2 schools around the corner from each other: Mt. Carmel and Hyde Park HS. MC can legally bring in kids from Merrillville(IN), Monee, Bolingbrook, Maywood, Park Ridge and Skokie while Hyde Park gets kids from a 8 block radius.
Why would they ever compete for the same trophy? Answer me this(without the usual dog whistles about CPL, family structures, "just wanting it more" and other things that dont belong in this conversation).
Are you aware that to go to any CPS school outside of your assigned neighborhood school you need to test, that school needs to have an open seat, you need to apply, and be selected? Are you aware that CPS has literally zero boundaries other than the person has to live in ten city of Chicago…
You can if you score 25ppgAre you aware that to go to any CPS school outside of your assigned neighborhood school you need to test, that school needs to have an open seat, you need to apply, and be selected?
You can't just walk into any CPS school you want on day 1.

That's the infuriating part about this is the person who is saying this has committed violations. Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones....Im just gonna leave these right here...
Maybe Coach should focus on his program following the rules instead of criticizing those that do follow the rules?
Any supensions/forfeited wins/discipline that I'm missing other than those in 2006, 2011, and 2023?

Don't downplay the O.All this chirping, then loses to Oswego in 2025....
I don't know if it is the same sign, but I saw a similar sign on one of the side streets, Chicago side, North East of Higgins and Canfield.I live in Chicago and a neighbor blocks away had a Maine South Hawks gradute sign on his lawn last summer. Not sayin, just sayin'
It pretty simple Chicago area privates should be limited to 15 miles, and the rest of the state should be 30 miles, you tie it to population density. You can attend any school you like but in order to be elgible for athletics you need to be in the radius.Think beyond 80 and north.
You now have coaches actively recruiting off other teams' rosters with zero repercussions even when it's turned into school administrations. It crazy to me how people are so desperate to win that they will look at a 16-year-old kid that has gone to their camps for years and done everything they have asked of him only to think "we need to get a 1-year rental player next year to replace him."Things didn't go off the rails until IHSA let every transfer play immediately.
It's really not much different than coaching a kid from youth football into high school and having him leave for a private school when his talent is at a premium. You now have coaches actively recruiting off other teams' rosters with zero repercussions even when it's turned into school administrations. If you are willing to pay the tuition there should be no mileage limits as to where you are coming from IMO. What if you are a legacy student? About half of MC's enrollment are legacy. So if they change it to 15 and you are a third generation legacy student (MC actually just graduated a 5th generation this past year) and you just happen to play a sport you would be able to attend but not play a sport by your suggestion? It pretty simple Chicago area privates should be limited to 15 miles, and the rest of the state should be 30 miles, you tie it to population density. For years on the board private school fans have argued that you shouldn't treat all the private schools the same since they aren't all the same and this would be a rule that definingly falls under that category.
Then you go to MC and don't play Football it not an educational rule it a sports rule. You are really telling me that Mt Carmel can't find 600 boys to maintain enrollment from this footprint? If you are willing to pay the tuition there should be no mileage limits as to where you are coming from IMO. If it was changed to 15 mile radius MC and St. Rita would be closed in 2 years and BR would not be far behind. Laurence would be on life support and those are the only schools I know of.
MC is located on 64th and Dante. About 10 students live within 2 miles of the school.

Not downplaying the O, pointing out that MS lost to a public school that isn't complaining.Don't downplay the O.
O'Brien tried to write this story last season, but Cooney didn't take the bait.
Yeah, that's pretty rich. Not downplaying the O, pointing out that MS lost to a public school that isn't complaining.
Within this circle shown and competing for students with BR, Rita, Laurence, Marist, Iggy, and the other CCL, not a chance. With the 30 mile radius competing against those schools MC has almost 600 students and that's keeping the doors open with a slight bit of wiggle room and that's with an absurd amount of fundraising. Remember they toyed with letting girls in a few years ago to increase enrollment until they realized they would lose more boys then gain girls. It's a rat race and so many who aren't involved don't realize it, and I don't blame you, if I lived in the far burbs I wouldn't either. Then you go to MC and don't play Football it not an educational rule it a sports rule. We would then complain about all these talented kids living within our district that are taking spots from kids that were loyal the whole timeI don't want to get too into this because this was mearly a coaches opinion but yeah, a 15 mile radius would close a ton of private schools and if anyone want tutorial on what it takes to keep a Chicago Catholic League school open feel free to DM me. A 100 student drop off would be a 1.5 million a year loss in tuition. That's game over at schools like MC, BR, and Rita and probably others. Not immediate death, but enviable death and 1000% a drop off in athletic success. It might make some of you happy to have a season without the CCL powers but I think you'd miss us more then you think. You'd have so much less to complain about![]()
It would be named on the several lawsuits that follow that 1/4 of our radius is under water and we should have our lines extendedThey need to get the aqua men from that radius…
100%. It will always be something. We would then complain about all these talented kids living within our district that are taking spots from kids that were loyal the whole time.
Take Mt Carmel they put a ton of resources into football and over the last few years have been reaching out to kids in DuPage County about the about playing football there, wouldn't that money be better spent recruiting kids that live locally who aren't athletes but interested in other activities?I don't want to get too into this because this was mearly a coaches opinion but yeah, a 15 mile radius would close a ton of private schools and if anyone want tutorial on what it takes to keep a Chicago Catholic League school open feel free to DM me. Is it not possible, they are doing both?Take Mt Carmel they put a ton of resources into football and over the last few years have been reaching out to kids in DuPage County about the about playing football there, wouldn't that money be better spent recruiting kids that live locally who aren't athletes but interested in other activities?
What money is spent recruiting a kid from Dupage County? Besides gas money to drive out and see them play? How many MC students are from Dupage County? 2? They recruit EVERYONE within the 30 mile radius from the 5 star recruit to the shy kid who doesn't do anything. They visit every catholic grammar school and any school that invites them in the radius and invite any student who wants to shadow to visit the school. Out of 600 students 420 don't play football....300 don't play any sport at all! But most are involved with clubs or other school activities. Every student is strongly encouraged to do something.Take Mt Carmel they put a ton of resources into football and over the last few years have been reaching out to kids in DuPage County about the about playing football there, wouldn't that money be better spent recruiting kids that live locally who aren't athletes but interested in other activities?

I'll DM but they will probably sell 10 pavers. We just need to sell 4,990 more to cover yearly expenses not covered by tuition.I would be curious to know what the annual operating costs are for MC in relation to what they bring in on an annual basis. You say it's tough to keep the doors open but they have a 10 year goal of having a $50 million endowment with an annual goal of $3 million for scholarships and aid packages alone.
In terms of football specific funds, how many people attend the Gridiron dinner every year at $1,000 per plate and once the drinks start flowing how many additional donations come in? How many $1,500 pavers have been sold so far?
If we're going full split then it should absolutely go back to 6 classes for public. Not sure privates have enough schools for 4 classes, maybe 2 or 3.Playoffs should be 8 classes of Public Schools and 4 classes of private, separated and let them recruit and do whatever they want. Distance, out of state, tuition fees, etc..
most private school football players are not paying full tuition and nothing will be done until all schools are foia, which will never happen with private schools.
A part of Chicago does attend MS though.I don't know if it is the same sign, but I saw a similar sign on one of the side streets, Chicago side, North East of Higgins and Canfield.
