Thats a weak cheap shot at Pope. This will be Hall's 5th team in 5 years including being suspended. Maybe the problem is the kid, and coaches shouldn't need "skill sets" to keep a player from acting like a turd

It doesn't sound like many coach's do. Some players are just hard to handle. He can play, but is he a fit, and coachable, is the question. There is no I in team.
I would ten times rather have Kohler, but probably not, if there going after Hall, they know something.
Tell that to his last four teams
Kohler feels like a great fit. One thing I will point out, in his 4 year college career, the only year he averaged 8 PPG or more was when he happened to have the major conference assist per game in a season leader of the last 25 years.
Him being from Utah and BYU striking out on bigs often this spring would just lead me to think he’s going there.

Unless there is some stories I don’t know about which one of those teams was like actually a good program? Like unlv? George Mason? Ucf? Auburn with Steven pearl?
And they have lots of money for him I'm sure. He would have looked better as a wildcat
I’m sure where there’s smoke there’s some fire but his transfer portal steps are pretty easy to explain. I mean unheralded HS recruit to UNLV, didn’t do great transferred down to George Mason, did better but coming from GMU he was still not a consensus top 100 transfer so had to settle for UCF, did great again and finally had a lofty recruiting status as a transfer that went to play for Bruce Pearl off a number 1 overall seed season.

The disconnect between Pope and last year's players is extremely obvious and something that he is not used to. Coaching the Opie Taylors in the Mormon Corridor is completely different than managing the egos of elite players with issues.

You're right. There was no disconnect between coach Pope and the players last year. He has a great track record of managing egos, especially elite players that are not like him (white mormon types).

With all of John Calipari's coaching faults, that was something he was really great at. Granted, I think a large part of that was hiring Kenny Payne. Which was a smart hire.
Not sure we can call any on last years team elite.
Cal cared about getting kids drafted. At least Pope cares about UK.
I didn't see disconnect unraveling the season. Injuries did. Thats still on Pope because he recruited hurt kids. But with a healthy roster this season, we will have a good season.

McBride trying to defend a 3 in the SEC would be interesting. And Kam can’t play the 2, not nearly enough handles. That said, Kohler would be an excellent addition and immediately plug into the starting 4. He’s basically a better version of Carr. Seems like a great fit with the other four obvious starters.
Agreed. Hall at four schools in four years with lots of rumors of locker room issues is a concern. Kohler seems to be a no frills perfect fit. I’d prefer him or Mitchell over Hall.
What does it matter what Calipari’s OR Pope’s intentions were? The topic was about Pope’s inexperience coaching elite players with baggage.
And there were plenty of people in the know (not on this board) that discussed the disconnect he has with kids.

Only way to learn how to manage it is to do it. Same way every other coach who does it started. If you are winning the baggage usually doesn’t show itself either.
Pope has never had an elite player (another debate) to manage and just because he professes his faith is not a reason

If you think hall is elite you don’t have very high standards.
