I always liked Journey. Then I heard someone complain about how corny their lyrics were, and now it's completely ruined it for me. It's weird because I always pay attention to lyrics, but somehow I missed how corny some of their songs were.
Separate Ways video was choc-fulla corn

Yeah I know terrestrial radio (am/fm) is on the outs with a lot of folks, but what artists, songs--heck even commercials make you reach for the dial quicker than a cracked whip?
The problem is people who run music on the radio and listen to music on the radio are literally NPC's that want the same 5 songs replayed over and over and over until you physically get ill from hearing it again.

I can get behind most of this list.
1) There are very few country songs in the last 30 years that don't sound like industry manufactured crap. The more independent, self promoted folk country artists occasionally produce a 10/10 bleed out song though.
2) Completely agree on rap once it hit the 2010's or so. Outside of freaks and tremendously talented one ofs like Ren.
3) I respect Led Zeppelin, I just don't enjoy them enough to want to listen to them constantly, same with Pink Floyd.
4) The Beatles here as well. However I do have a crazy love for well done re-imagined Beatles cover songs.
5) I would swap Radiohead here personally for Green Day. While I'm not a huge Radiohead fan, I won't change the station over them, but Billy Joe Armstrong's voice is nails on a chalkboard to me. And I never really enjoyed Industry Sellout Punk Bands. (Nobody touch my 2000's Pop Punk though dangit, she's my dirty little secret side piece). lol
6) I lump Dave Mathews in with John Maer, Jason Mraz, and that whole weird seashell necklace, trying way too hard with an acoustic guitar, frat slop from the mid 90's to late 2000's together. I just can't with it.
7) My add to your list is Nickelback... God! Please! No!

My main love is 90's grunge, followed closely by a healthy diet of 80's rock, 80's metal, and late 80's early 90's rap. Sprinkled in with 2000's pop punk and select emo songs that were just catchy enough to create core memories. lol My playlist is all over the place and severely bi-polar.
Ren is an enormous talent. I've been a fan of his for a few years now.

Hootie and the Blowflies or anything by Darius Rucker. Any version of Long Black Veil. Ricky Skaggs and almost all bluegrass. Anything by Reba Mcintyre. Mainstream country music. Lee Greenwood. But I never listen to channels that play those, anyway.

Oh yeah, Bob and Tom or their ilk.
Johnny Cash Long Black Veil live is a slayer

1. Most country made after 1995 - genre feels manufactured and has for a long time
2. Most rap made after 2008 - beats got worse, so did flow style
3. I will catch hell for this, but Led Zeppelin does nothing for me.
4. The Beetles - see above
5. Radiohead - singer’s whiny voice irritates me to no end
6. Dave Matthews Band - frat boy music that all sounds the same

I should note that my tastes are not in the mainstream. Metal is the love of my life, 90s gangsta rap is my side piece, and I have flings all over town with grunge, punk, ska and old school country.
1. I respect that. I would add that some of the newer blood like Chris Stapleton are great.
2. Agreed. Mumble rap is slop.
3. Not hell, but I disagree. Watch "The Song Remains the Same." Classic.
4. Beetlemania is annoying, but the band is one of the most influential of all time.
5. You added Radiohead to a list with Led Zepplein and the Beetles. Bold move, Cotton.
6. Heck yes! Not only do I dislike DMB, I find their devoted fans to be akin to boomer Swifties.

Can’t stand Pink Floyd. Huey Lewis deserves a channel change.
On another note, Creed was great.
And maybe one of the best one hit wonder was “ Big Country “ sung by Big Country 1983.

The only modern country I listen to is Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson types. I aaw Stapleton at Rupp in 2018 and will be seeing Johnny Blue Skies there in October. I like the more traditional sound. I just can’t do the poppy stuff with autotuners, terrible attempts at adding hip hop elements to country, songs about Applebees, anything with Jelly Roll, etc.

I used to hate on Barry Manilow, too. Then I heard “Mandy” again recently and was singing that chorus loudly by the end of it.
It‘s interesting how idiots say that they hate Manilow‘s songs, but his songs are all still being played 50+ years later. None of the garbage music being made today will still be played 50 years later.

I like everything from Manilow to George Strait, Chicago, Seger, to heavy metal bands like AC DC and GNR. In fact, my wife and I were standing in line last night to get into Rupp for Barry’s concert when it was announced it was postponed due to technical problems.

I will immediately discount anyone’s opinion that includes the Beatles or the Rolling Stones as overrated. This is not an area where your young, uninformed opinions matter. It’s about the dumbest thing I’ve heard.
Bingo. If you don’t appreciate the genius of both, you’re too stupid to listen to music. These are the same morons that listen to rap and think that’s good “music”. It’s total garbage. I would rather listen to screaming monkey’s.

Ill say just anything on the radio thats over saturated.

Taylor Swift has some good songs. Not all of them are good but they have to play 4 or 5 of them on repeat when she drops a new album.

This Ella Langley chick is the country version of Taylor now. I will grant "Choosing Texas" is a catchy and id say good country song by today's standards. Im not sure why it has been number 1 so long compared to some of the prior female country greats. And now the country stations are literally playing 4 other songs with her n them. I think one is a duet with fellow thread hated Morgan wallen (although whiskey glasses is a good song to me as a drinker) but still.

Anything from Lucinda Williams. Just don't understand why people think she's such a great songwriter

I also think the song is overrated. It’s a very mid song. I think the tone of vocals clashes with the frequency of the guitars. Don’t understand why people love it so much. I definitely wouldn’t say it’s BAD per se, but it had some really odd engineering/production decisions. C+ song
Because Vernon Reid is a badass.

Any song by Tyler Childers. That crying twang sounds like he’s under interrogation being waterboarded.

Proud To Be An American by Lee Greenwood

I’m patriotic but man that song being forced upon you 24/7 is wayyy too much.

Just curious. What station are you listening to that forces this on you 24/7?
It all started when I was in the Military (Navy) in the 80’s. That’s when the song came out and everytime we would have an exercise with another ship in our battle group, the CO (Commanding Officer) would blast this song. He played it so much that even when i hear it today, I’m shell shocked I guess. Lol
