Do us a favor. Volunteer for a safety dummy experiment. Wear a seat belt the wrong way ( as you describe) and see if there is a difference when you crash as wearing it the proper way ( over his shoulder) let us know the results . If not shut up and obey the law as written.

Why does the government deserve $550? My thought is this in the situation that he brought up. If a guys safety belt is on the wrong way in his car, is it going to affect anyone else but himself? Is this hurting the safety of the general public in any way? The answer is no. Seat belt laws are fine, not worth a fine. There is a fine line between saying you have freedom, and having actual freedom.

I get speeding tickets if it is "excessive" 15+ over on the interstate or 10+ over in residential. If it is less then that it should be a 3 strike warning, or something similar before you have to pay the government fees. They already rob us blind in taxes for (SOME NOT ALL) **** that we don't want to pay for.

So let me say this one more time... Many people work to survive, and don't have extra money to save and invest. You really think making these people pay $550 to the government for a law that only affects themselves is going to help society in any way? If so I'd really like to know how.

I am not saying that I don’t agree , other countries have strict standards when it comes to seatbelts compared to the US . I was in Mexico visiting friends and I was a passenger in his jeep I was not wearing a seatbelt we drove by a cop he flipped around and gave me a ticket, 3500 pesos which is about 250 American. I am not a big seat belt guy but I wear one in Mexico when I visit the people. The guy in Australia knew the punishment.
