It's August. Whomever is still available from this injunction is probably not worth picking up. I'm referring to football, only.

J-Mar, Tamin Lipsey at Iowajr. It’s probably possible more than most think. I’d take Lipsey and his defense in a heartbeat.

Bluto wants to know if they can extend to 7 years.

Just as well move to unlimited eligibility, put an end to the changes that come about every time an athlete comes up with a new angle to get more years

The judge lady had to backtrack everything when she realized she didn't have the authority, now she's only granting a 5th year but no transfer portal, roster limits or NIL changes. Basically you can only play at the school you're currently at if they have a roster spot available, some players put their name in the portal this spring in anticipation of this so they might be able to transfer.

So where are we actually at with this now? Did this basically strike down the 5th year as we previously read it ?

I feel for the student athletes and the schools that are dealing with these rouge judges.

I don’t see what the big deal is. It was INEVITABLE that the 2022 athletes would get this relief. It was stupid that the NCAA tried to exclude them in the first place when they passed the 5-5 rule. I knew day one this result was coming.

Ya but not all will get relief. Take JL for example if Nebraska doesn’t have a spot for him he is done .

It sounds like he did enter the portal back when it was open and therefore he can go wherever he wants. I'm guessing most guys who fit into this category were smart enough to enter the portal.

But there is no portal in this ruling unless I am reading something different?

Anyone who entered the portal when it was open last spring would still be eligible to transfer to a program with roster availability.

"Of course, not every big hope is dead for Nebraska. The aforementioned Lawrence did enter the Transfer Portal specifically because he wanted to see what happened with the 5-for-5 rule. Should he want to, he could go wherever has a spot for him. Or, if the Huskers believe they could make it work, he could come back to Lincoln for one more season." https://huskercorner.com/nebraska-b...wrence-colorado-ruling-transfer-portal-return

Blue entered the portal also and I definitely see him playing somewhere else.

But Fred saved one spot for him.
Do you think Fred had that conversation with all the incoming guys (Leonhardt) up front so that they knew we'd take JL back if it became possible? I'm guessing he must've. Man, I realize I have drunk ALL the hoops kool-aid.... but we're loaded. Assuming the chemistry works out we're so much deeper than last year.

Assuming Leonhardt is a starter-quality player, I would love to see Fred bring Lawrence back to be the first guy off the bench in relief of Leonhardt, Frager and Sandfort. Lawrence is versatile enough to do that (especially defensively), and he could essentially play starter-level minutes in a variety of roles.

Big fan or JL when he is healthy. Hoping he is whole and plays.

I am in the camp that his defense has always been overrated, considerably. He had some HUGE, timely shots last year. I’d love to see if he can get to his 3rd tournament with NU.

Lawrence isn’t a lockdown defender, but he can hold his own against quick point guards and has enough length to guard taller wings. And, he knows the Huskers’ matchup zone, which can be hard for younger players to pick up. That’s why I feel like Fred could plug him in for any of those three projected starters. Hope to see it happen.

Idk if we see the same defense this year. What they played last year worked because of pieces. Sam was the best perimeter defender we had, and it wasn’t even close.
