I like the Gausman move I’m still hopeful for a better and controllable starter as well, but we aren’t forced to if teams ask for too much (Hartshorn). Looks like he started yesterday so rotation will stay same for Dodgers series.

It takes two to trade, and right now it's rentals who are being dealt.
FYI, Hartshorn and Ayers were both healthy scratches today. There might be another, bigger deal in the works. The Mason Miller rumors are swirling. Probably won't come to fruition, but someone is pushing the talk.

Maybe Taylor is a straight platoon with Happ, since Happ is total @SS batting right handed.

That is my hope. Alcantara showed us what a competent righthanded bat can do. Then they swapped out in the later innings for a situational matchup, and got better defensively.

Rojas is clearly the big prospect.
Long has the bat to stick in the majors, but no real position. I saw him in Des Moines Saturday night and his footwork around the bag is below average. With time he can be a guy who stands there and makes all of the routine plays. He’ll never have great range. There was a pop up he took a tortured route on and almost tripped over his own feet on.

After 2 solid wins against the champs, I’m allowing myself to dream a little bit.

Pre-deadline, this was setting up as a copy of last season—not enough pitching to beat the Brewers.

But we will potentially have eight, EIGHT, legit starting pitchers at the start of the playoffs:

1. Holmes
2. Gausman
3. Boyd
4. Imanaga
5. Peterson
6. Cabrera
7. Rea
8. Assad

Last season we had to start Boyd on short f*cking rest because we literally didn’t have anyone else. We lost our best pitcher, Horton, at the start of the postseason. Imanaga was basically benched. Now, all of a sudden, we have a glut of starting pitching options.

And the bullpen is just as overstocked as the starting staff! Zeferjahn looks like a stud and there’s even the possibility of adding guys like Steele, Brown and Palencia.
