I know the players don’t want it but baseball needs a salary cap. It does not make much sense to continue to allow the dodgers to just acquire the best team. I don’t really have any hate toward the dodgers for having ownership willing to spend like they do but I don’t think it’s good for the sport, outside of LA and New York

Yeah. Enjoy baseball now, because it might be a while.

I think the national league is just better. The Brewers have a better win % than the Dodgers, and teams like Braves and Cubs look like title contenders. In the American, it gets thin fast. Maybe the Rays or Yankees could get hot. The Astros are 9-1 in their last 10, but barely above .500 overall. I feel like that Houston staff would get rocked by quite a few National League teams. Hard to see them as a real threat, IMO.

I had to do a little research because I’ve heard Skubal’s name thrown around a little bit, but barely.

He has won back to back Cy Young’s in the AL. However, last year might have been the softest Cy Young award I’ve ever seen. He was 13-6 with a 2.21 ERA in 31 starts. For comparison, there are already 3 MLB pitchers with 13 or more wins in 2026, and there are still about 50 games left in the regular season. There are also 3 other pitchers with an ERA lower than 2.21 currently.

It’s crazy how much the game has changed with analytics being used more than raw stats to give out the individual awards.

The incoming strike or whatever is bad timing for a sport that had been declining and was gaining steam again. The 94 strike killed my fandom for a long time. I mean hell it even killed the baseball card craze. No telling what this one will do. You've already got a whole generation of kids turned off to baseball due to the exclusive youth system.

Interesting piece of an interview with Bryce Harper regarding the Dodgers:

Ultimately the players don’t have a leg to stand on for this one. The MLB owners proposal will literally give them more money under the new cap rules, and a larger share of the revenue moving forward. It’s wild that the players aren’t backing it.

More movement.

Robbie Ray to San Diego (from SF)
Nats traded L Garcia to Yankees
Cubs got Gausman from Tor
O’s send Adley to Red Sox
Arraez likely headed to Philly
Rays trying to add more Bullpen help.

Garcia in Yankee stadium should be fun. He hits a ton to RF. Crazy he leads in the AL in slugging % too. Nice get for the Yankees.

How are y'all talking about contenders and not talking about the Red Sox? What they are doing right now is really historic. They've won 30 of 35 including sweeps of the yankees, dodgers and Rays.

And they're doing it without Crochet and Roman Anthony. And Contreras missed five games of that.

My Sox are beasts. 437 teams started as bad as they started or worse and zero have ever made the playoffs. The Red Sox will make the playoffs and become the first

just need to get out of the wild card series if possible.... We have an incredibly weak remaining schedule so we have a chance

ETA: remaining SOS for AL East teams

Rays - 0 - 20th toughest
Yankees - + 4.5 GB - 16th toughest
Sox - + 5.5 GB - 25th toughest

I’m gonna take some credit for this run since I finally saw my first game at Fenway last month with my son! Bucket list item checked off and will definitely be going back more frequently!

It is an awesome place to watch a game. Nowhere else in baseball are the fans into every pitch even when they're 14 games under .500 in June.

And they did it again last night. They completed the sweep of the white sox after being down 4-0 early. They have swept 8 of their last 11 series. Historic.

I splurged for Green Monster tickets for me and my kids one year when I did the marathon. Was truly awesome.
