Ouch. I totally missed this development at the assistant coach level, and the impact it has already had on PSU.

Apologies if posted: curious if new coaches have been hired to replace the two to Auburn?

I don’t speak with the coaching staff, and the departures were unknown to me until the Daily Collegian article. So in the context that I’m not certain of their plans, it appears that PSU may have hired the replacements:

I assume these are filling vacancies versus two incremental hires?

I don’t speak with the track coaches, so I can’t verify things. But it seems pretty apparent that the two coaches are filing the vacancies created when Ryan and Kara Foster took jobs with Auburn. I don’t know what the situation is with the hiring of Jess Riden. I wasn’t aware that the program lost their chief of staff/director of operations, but news of such rarely comes out in public.

Everyone has the right to live their life as they see fit. That said, I still am ticked at Ryan and Kara Foster for leaving PSU for Auburn for basically the same positions/titles. They both are PSU alums that had established a good thing in middle distances/x-country at PSU. And Ryan Foster had also established the Australian pipeline (he’s Australian). I presume that Auburn paid them a lot to move laterally. Hopefully, it was worth it for them. Perhaps it’s wishful thinking on my part, but I think PSU could have gone a good way to meeting them in $$. But then, perhaps not. But no matter how you slice it, the Fosters really did screw over their alma mater.

So we lose a coach to Auburn and hire one from Auburn?

At least PSU cross country/distance program has more than one coach. Some D1 programs have only one cross country/distance coach for both men's and women's.

Auburn named a new Track & X-Country coach (Ken Harden) on July 9. Since then, he’s been assembling his staff. I presume that the AC we got from Auburn was part of the purge of the old staff.
