i don’t know if he’s going to 49, but I do know that most people on this board severely underestimate what guys can do when they put their mind to it. Most things that people think are off the table are on if people put there mind to it in the right way - up or down. And PSU is a place where the right way is pretty much standard (pretty much, not 100%).

Getting to 149, and being exceptional at 149, are not one and the same thing. Anyone with a little willpower can stop eating and drop a lot of weight relatively quickly.

Drop 10 to 15 and take out SVN, that is the focus of this conversation/debate, and it may not be possible. We may just see in 3 months, but a healthy dose of skepticism is certainly defensible.

Admittedly I am biased on this subject. I don't believe in big cuts. Granted there are exceptions but some of our stars have gone through it, and once they gave in to wrestling at their more normal weight, good things happened. How incredible was DT in freestyle while he cut? What did he have to say about it, afterwards? How good was Oky State for more than a decade when the whole team cut, wink wink ;-)

FWIW, I've reached out to a few people on this and have yet to get a response. Will update, obviously, if that changes. For now, though, as you have all noted above, Haines is part of the group that now has an extra year of eligibility if he wants to use it. Whether or not he will, however, remains to be seen.
