I can’t help thinking of Square Peg Round Hole. I tell myself that I have no idea how other people think so I almost always decline to give advice. But this reeks to me of Square Peg Round Hole.

For you and moms or one of your sons? IMHO Fishtown tends to be rather bohemian / artsy in nature. Old City is a bit more refined but I wouldn't want to live in either.

Oddly enough I was watching the news on Fox 29 (Philly) last night. Oddly, because i was in Dayton--but our B&B had one of those TVs with stations from all over the country. They had a news report of an wave of thefts in the city--jacking up cars and stealing the wheels and tires. Mostly Hondas. Old City was one of the hotspots for that.

Yes, plus they don’t use tongs at the donut shop.

Fishtown is ******* excellent. Make sure you live a close to the 95 overpass as possible, preferably right underneath it.

Bars, beers, youth, pitbulls, sidewalks strewn with all kinds of stuff proving people and dogs live in the neighborhood. Righteous little food scene, terrible parking, late night vomit and the shiny youth of the world mingling with the melting pot.

Quick drive down to the stadiums or to get downtown, Uber does access the neighborhood as well. small row homes with front porches as well as tiny backyards where you can sit a night under the stars in your foldout beach chain and listen to Phillies on the radio while guzzling beers.

Fishtown seems like your kind of place. Go spend an afternoon at Kraftwork pounding beers and eating some righteous bar food and get a feel for the place as well as your neighbors.

Tgar approves.

How long is the arrangement for? Permanent? Is this to help kids offset high cost of living or so they can have some live in daycare? Day care is no joke - we paid almost 5k a month for preschool until kindergarten. We did have some help the first six months for each kid. I couldn’t imagine living with either sets of parents permanently but hopefully good deal for both of you.

This is all about The Rick channeling his inner Lebowski For a summer.

picture this……

40 year old loafers.
white socks
Baggy corduroy shorts
white tee shirt riding a wife beater underneath
school bus parked across the street under 95.
foldout beach chair out back, just fits inside the chain link fence
big smile, Phillies on the radio, Miller Lite at his side While Digesting an JB Smash burger and Madge is hanging the laundry next door.

For many of us including Tgar this sounds like a perfect little slice of heaven. Everyone wants heaven, summer nights in the city………. Heaven.

probably 24 months. Moms is gonna babysit the yute during the week and we’re trying to figure out the most efficient and fun way to do it. My long term hope (still waiting for DIL to green light this but she’s hinted she’d dig it) is the 4 of us buy a Philly suburb crazy asss compound we’d all live in (planning 4 yutes) . If it were up to me we’d do this right now but 1 loves the city and wants to stay as long as possible. His Fairmount house is only big enough for 1 yute.
plan 2, my plan, is sell my house and buy a suburb house on a Philly train line that we can make into a compound if the kids want to do a compound. Moms can train in and out.
‘this is a compound. I’m walking it wednesday

this is a Fairmount spot that would do the trick

That looks like a great place. What’s not to like? 10 bedrooms! I’m guessing at least 8 are legit bedrooms.

Seems like a low price. Any major issues with the house?
moms has criteria (moves, adjusts, develops)

also, house has no central AC ($75k)
