I've always heard from managers that I respect that they have never have to fire anyone, people fire themselves. Rhule has been given everything he needs to succeed. He has a great salary, has been able to select and hire his assistant coaches, hired his friend to be the team's general manager, has great facilities to work in, has an AD who supports him, fans who always show-up for games and access to NIL money. If Rhule does not succeed, it is all on him. Nobody else to blame, but himself.
I can think of a way to silence both the media and his critics.

There is nothing wrong with feeling good about your good recruiting class (but we have done better several times since Y2K, so let’s not pretend that is somehow unique or groundbreaking) and feeling good about what you did to help bring it about. But it’s weird to draw a link to some small piece of what you do that is not part of your core responsibility.
Yeah, it’s because I do podcasts and media spots. Well, that must be it. It’s surely not because you’re a great coach with a vision and an ability to lead players and teams to great success.
Rhule is just marketing himself and the fanbase is united in that it’s time to put up or shut up.
Did you guys know Matt Rhule was given over 87 million dollars to coach at Nebraska but also a 13 million dollar NIL package to do media? Isn't that part of his main job? He actually convinced somebody that his speaking and entertainment skills are so grand that he should be paid 5 million a year extra to do it.
What specifically makes you the most excited/optimistic about Nebraska’s upcoming season?
There will always be intrigue with a new QB and a position coach who could turn around a putrid OL. Will it be enough? Logically I don’t think so, but that’s why you play the games.
He deserves every penny. He has made so much money for the university and players.

I usually don’t chime in on fan of another team. But what makes you optimistic of another 8 -4 Iowa team. I have a serious question. What’s its like to be a fan of a program that’s NEVER accomplished anything in CFB history?
I think Nebraska will keep losing as long as our fans criticize Iowa for being better than us. Our last championship was almost 30 years ago. Just imagine in 1995, a Michigan state fan talking **** about how they won the national title in 1966....its pretty pathetic.
I do not know if it is just one person or a group of people with their own agenda or just plain old incompetence, but something is going on in Lincoln that is higher than the coaching level that has kept Husker football from succeeding this Century.
The podcast was last year, Matt and that gave us our worst recruiting ranking in the online era. But hey, thanks for the passive-aggressive jab at the fanbase.
Absolutely zero ink has been signed on this current class, but true to form, Rhule is already out here taking a victory lap before anyone crosses the finish line.

I just dont get Husker fans ever bringing up Iowa in a football discussion. They have dominated us of late and until we flip the script its best to stay quiet on that front.

With the amount of money Rhule gets paid and the results he has delivered so far, criticism is warranted, especially with how the last 3 games went last year. Media In Nebraska is actually a lot softer than in other markets, he would get a lot worse elsewhere. anyone who thinks pulling credentials for stating the obvious flaws in the product on the field doesn’t understand how the real world works.
When you get paid millions of dollars, people expect results and you will get criticism when you underachieve. If you can’t handle that then you shouldn’t be coaching big boy football and you definitely shouldn’t be protected from criticism when you are the highest paid public employee in the state.
