What you are talking about is mostly capitalist countries in Western Europe that have guardrails and that fund appropriate social services. There is nothing wrong with that IMO…we might quibble on how far to lean into government provided services or the nature of the guardrails, but that’s a quibble more than a debate.
The problem is the lack of guardrails on corporate interests, not the economic model. So what I’m debating is the merits of the DSA nutbags that want to throw out the better model for a bad one without actually solving the main problem. The ones calling for outright communism, the ones calling to seize all means of production, etc. These ARE leading voices in the DSA getting airtime on mainstream media. Their embrace of a failed model is STUPID. Especially because we lack the guardrails against collusion, grift, etc.
The Dems should disavow it, but instead y’all seem to be embracing it. I’m telling you now it will not work, nor is it a winning message in the long run (you might take the house in Nov because Trump sucks that bad, but you would lose it 2 years later).
3 months ago I could not imagine a world where I wasn’t voting blue this fall. Depending on how it goes in my area I may vote third party

. I will not support any candidate that backs Trump nor any candidate that supports the extreme positions of the DSA platform. Hopefully the people on my ballot are saner than the extremes our two parties currently embrace. Now you may say good riddance to those like me, but most Americans are moderate. So before the Dems jump headlong into a socialist agenda they might want to pay attention to moderate reactions to the DSA platform.
