We will be higher in the preseason coaches poll IMO because we outperformed expectations last year. This is all based on views as to “who won the offseason” and you have schools like Providence and X atop that list for many because of the on court and off court developments.

also everyone sees MQ as bouncing back after an uncharacteristic down year, with James and the other returnees, the portal additions and because Shaka is a proven coach that’s been at the top of the league recently for a number of years.

Ultimately, while I’d rather us be pegged higher than lower - and let’s be honest we all would - this falls into the WGAS category. It produces offseason discussion and debate, but where we are come March matters.

Last year I said no way we would be close to last place. This year I say we're in the group of 5-9.

Definitely in the WGAS category for me...like all pre-season rankings.

We will never be a preseason marvel in this era of free agency. And that’s ok. Our “system” with Sha is coaching up less-heralded or experienced midmajor types on a budget that is average at best in the league.

If we can maintain as a Top-50 team (KP/NET) and hope to get enough big wins, that’s a good season. Then role the dice in the tournaments. Basically what we’ve been in 3/4 of Sha’s years here we’ve simply come up short a couple times. Can he get us over the hump? 🤷‍♂️
