My ball and chain is having those 17n hot flashes. So, I, along with every other forlorn ba$tard who has to live through that kind of bull$#!+, is fully aware of why the 17n air is constantly running. I 17n freeze slam to death while she's over there fanning her @$$.

Get her a portable A/C unit for the bedroom, then you can turn the main thermostat up at night. Might not be a net gain but it’ll keep her comfortable.

You should talk to her about going to a women’s clinic. Took a while to convince mine until after she exhausted all the ******** remedies she found on tik tok. She’s 2 months into treatment. Hot flashes have stopped, and mood swings have improved immensely.

Are these live in clinics? Do they have 3,6,9 month plans? How much?

I know it's been hot but my bill is ridiculously high this month. Reading was from 6/25 to 7/28.

I'm in Dinsmor and my bill was $100 higher than the same period last year. 2930 Kw in 2025 and 3239 in 2026. This month's bill is the highest I've had anywhere I've lived. I noticed that this year's "fuel adjustment discount" line item on the bill was half of what 2025's discount.

Fuel adjustment adjustment is tied to the cost of natural gas. When it’s low you pay less, when it’s high you pay more.

Have I ever mentioned the morning that I woke up to find the AC blasting in our bedroom while a space heater was simultaneously set on high in our bathroom because the AC was too cold?

My wife gets home from work and immediately begins to turn every light in the house on, even though it is still light outside. She has absolutely mastered turning on the lights, but she hasn't figured out how to turn them off. The only saving grace is that she is cold natured and doesn't jack the thermostat down. I used to argue with her about the lights, but I have to admit that I have deemed it not worth it and have officially surrendered in the name of peace.

edited to add that my increase is 7% YOY on Central Electric which surprised me since I've been having to run my pool pump 7x24, thought it would have been more.

it's my understanding that the data center projects in the area have not come to completion yet so I don't believe they're contributing to any electrical usage in the area.

On mine (4 County Starkville area) they always have a graph that you can look at on the bill and tell from that if its going up in Summer, down in Fall and Spring which it should. I'm on levelized on both power and gas and Atmos does the graph also.

Edit: Just looked it up and May was $172, June $168, July $166 so levelizing keeps it pretty steady.

Same here. I have been on level billing for years - not sure how anyone enjoys the potluck feeling of opening the bill wondering what it's going to be this month.

I love that thrill and the $70 electric bill in the winter. And at the end of the day, my total bill between electric and gas is levelized. My gas bill right now is around $40-$50.

If you’re living paycheck to paycheck, level pay can really help. Just be sure to do it for both electric & gas if you have gas heat. Otherwise you’re gonna get squeezed in the winter.

I like it just because it somewhat normalizes my payments year round. I pay about $150 - $175/mo. In the summer, I run about $300 - $350/mo in bills.

You do have to have them both on level billing or it wouldn't make sense.

Why 24x7? Just curious if I'm missing something over here. I run mine daylight hours only.

My gas bill this month was $29. I'm in the "17 your level billing bull$h!+" camp at the moment.

Pacific Northwest cost of living can be crazy expensive in some aspects, but hydroelectric power provides cheap electricity, at least. 9.9 cents a kWh after the baseline charge is counted. We're currently trying to keep datacenters out of the area, but I don't think it will be possible in the long run.

I do heat with gas.

It's the highest/lowest outside temperature recorded at my home. It was 93 degrees in the June/July bio;ling period. It hit 99 this week but that will be the July/August billing period.

My Entergy bill was the highest I’ve ever had this month as well. I looked back at my usage last July and it was about 20% higher than it is this July but my bill in July 2025 was lower.

Mine went up about 19% from last month ($44), but our unit is only about a year old. I’m not sure how that factors into things. I know it was a good bit hotter these last few weeks than the 4-5 weeks before that… Entergy
