The lounge, Barber Shop and relaxation room stood out in that I thought things like that used to be against the rules if it was off limits to the general student population. That's what stopped Athletic Dorms and Cafeterias.

1. They don't really need practice facilities considering how bad their schedule is.

2. I don't think there is anything here that's a real outlier. I think in today's CFB world, glitz of a practice facility doesn't really move the needle as much as the lack of having something like an IPF can be a red flag. Players just want to be ensure that their development won't be actively hindered due to a lack of facilities

Teams up north have to have a good indoor facility due to the weather. Just so much snow you practice in and ND gets its share off the lake. That outdoor practice field is heated as well.

you are correct, and I should have clarified a little more............were it not for ESPN and the media always propping ND up through the years, would they be relevant today?

MY viewpoint as a distant observer is that they have had many a mediocre year, and still swooned over as if they were a legit contender.....or their legacy history has given them breaks in down years
