Hate this, because I sympathize with him after a long day on the golf course. He made a huge mistake and it sucks.
The article also taught me that Dak is now the Cowboys' career leader in yardage at around 36,000 yards. That is insane. He'll be in the top 30 all time NFL yardage leaders early this season.

Did he murder someone in the process of getting a DUI? Suspended from work seems excessive for a first offense DUI
Depends on how much he has to drink. If he blew .08 I would sympathize with him. If he blew .18 that’s a different story. From the fact he refused the test & his mug shot, I’m guessing he was closer to the second number.
Yeah seems excessive and like Darryl said, if you golf much, you can relate to the situation. But if you don't crack down on it, he might murder someone the next time. Hopefully he learns from this. I do think the penalty and stigma associated with it is harsh enough - the CBS suspension makes no sense. Maybe they had other issues with him and this gave them an out or something, or there's more to the story that hasn't come out.
This does not surprise me at all. Tony is making around $18 million a year, and he has clearly lost some of his shine in the booth. He was loved when CBS gave him that 10-year, $180 million deal in 2020, but the criticism has grown considerably since then. Last season, plenty of fans were calling for CBS to replace or demote him for JJ Watt. This situation may give CBS an opportunity to revisit the arrangement or eventually move on.
It could be as simple as he's administratively on FMLA (or whatever) leave while he completes a treatment/recovery program. I'm pulling for Tony, he seems mostly like a good dude.
I watched his DUI test. He did pretty well considering. Almost passed a couple of the tests, but he seemed a little goofier than normal.....kind of like maybe he had one beer too many. It was a legit arrest, .08 is good enough to know that you shouldn't be driving. I think he could have made it home and kept it between the white lines, but still some risk at that,.

This is it. CBS is stuck with a big contract on an announcer who’s just not as good as he was when he signed it (maybe a drinking problem). This is a way out.
Maybe not. One violation will get your security clearance revoked, and prevent you from getting one initially, which could be the same as getting fired.
Well like I said, I can sympathize... Uber didn't exist 20 years ago but it does now, so there's really no excuse. Whether it's golf, fishing, or a night at The Pub, I am now legally bound to tell everyone that you should never drink and drive. But I have been told by multiple people (attorneys, others) that you are better off refusing the test and taking your chances later in court or whatever. I'm sure that's not a great option either, I'm just wondering if that's what he was thinking.
I misread it as 'gorse'. Probably the mention of golf triggered me, because I know all too well what a gorse area is... I hit into a lot of it at Bandon Dunes.

In Wisc the 1st dui is a civil charge & not criminal. You basically get 1 free dui in Wisc. He should have taken the second breath test post arrest. The test refusal fine is greater than the 1st dui fine.

A bit scary too. I wonder if the Wisconsin % of alcohol related driving accidents/deaths is higher than the norm. I would assume so because they do drink more than just about any state but would people with no DUI's get behind the wheel more often?

You are better off refusing, but in MS refusing is an automatic 6 month DL suspension which sucks.

Exactly. It's a traffic engineering term. It's not a colloquialism you'd ever expect to hear. Given the way she interacted with him after he pushed back a couple of times, not understanding her, it struck me that she was probably using official terminology to promote escalation.
I'm also not advocating for drunk driving, especially for a guy with so much money who could easily get an Uber. But good Lord, I wonder how many guy cops would've strung him up in that situation? It's Tony Romo with his prototypical shiteating grin.

And what does “the lady cop had it in for him” even mean. He was driving drunk. I’d think most any cop or anyone else would “have it in for him” doing that.
Rates up there somewhere only slightly more moderate than a nose ring. The two go together. Like tats.
