Entergy Bill - did anyone's electric bill jump a lot this month?

I know it's been hot but my bill is ridiculously high this month. Reading was from 6/25 to 7/28.
Highest it's ever been in a little over 4 years at the current house. Wifey blamed it on me leaving the front doors partially open when I was re-finishing them.

Just look at your KWH usage. Is it higher than normal? If not, then it sounds like the rate charged increased.

I am on Central Electric which is usually significantly cheaper than Entergy. My kwh increased from 2472 for 6/06 - 7/08 in 2025 to 2924 for 6/06 - 7/06 in 2026. It has just been damned hot. My bill increased 17.83% year over year while my usage increased 18.28%.

I think my current power is the highest I have experienced in this house. I have been here since November of 1997. I fear the next bill will be even higher.

It was my highest by $80. Nothing abnormal from the way we run it.
My ball and chain is having those 17n hot flashes. So, I, along with every other forlorn ba$tard who has to live through that kind of bull$#!+, is fully aware of why the 17n air is constantly running. I 17n freeze slam to death while she's over there fanning her @$$.

I am not. Is there a way to determine if you weren't on level billing how much your bill would be?
About ~$197 for 1191 kWh which includes a $14 fuel credit. Last month I had the capacitor on my air conditioner swapped out so that may have helped. Also, it's my understanding that the data center projects in the area have not come to completion yet so I don't believe they're contributing to any electrical usage in the area.

Similar situation although the Mrs is way past hot flashes, she is just hot all the damned time. I walk around the house in the summer in sweats & a long sleeve pullover while she bitches about how hot it is in the house.

Welcome to my house and setup. And with two units in North Texas in the summer . . . I won't see a bill below $300 until October.

I think mine was around 140. Up a little but July and August typically are. If yall would spend more time out in the heat you wouldn't have to keep the house 70°. Or put your wives outside for a few hours.

On mine (4 County Starkville area) they always have a graph that you can look at on the bill and tell from that if its going up in Summer, down in Fall and Spring which it should. I'm on levelized on both power and gas and Atmos does the graph also.

Edit: Just looked it up and May was $172, June $168, July $166 so levelizing keeps it pretty steady.

Air on subarctic and not one or two or three but 4 fans on in the bedroom at night.

You should talk to her about going to a women’s clinic. Took a while to convince mine until after she exhausted all the ******** remedies she found on tik tok. She’s 2 months into treatment. Hot flashes have stopped, and mood swings have improved immensely.

Mine was 20 bucks cheaper this month. Kwhour usage flat at 3800. Still a bill in the upper 400’s. I bumped the thermostat to 74 a couple weeks ago. Hopefully I’ll see a difference next bill

I’m using slightly less electricity, bill has star far stayed the same (levelized). My gas bill went up about $40 (also levelized), no clue what happened there.

If you or you spouse sleep hot, I give my full recommendation to the Bedjet. Kinda ridiculous looking. You can set it up to mostly just blow one person. Looks like they’re even on sale.

Looks like my most recent bill was $190. 1,900 sq foot house on a shaded wooded lot. Usage up 10% over last year but average temp up 7 degrees. So nothing seems unusual. This is something I see as it costs what it costs. I’m gonna stay cool.

yes, if your company offers that you can tell. most have a restriction on once you sign up that if you get off you can't get back on for a year. I love level billing my bills pretty consistent under $ 200 each month regardless of use! I only use electricity to cool. My house is 4000 sq feet with 11-foot ceilings. I do run Mini Splits at Night in the bedrooms and central unit during the day. My wife likes it at 64 in the bedroom at night. when we lived on the Montana/Wyoming boarder she would leave the windows open in the bedroom at night even in the winter it hit 50 below one night and my eyelids literally froze shut. I put an end to that crap immediately!

I don’t like the level billing. I’ll pay for what I use. No more, no less.
If you’re living paycheck to paycheck, level pay can really help. Just be sure to do it for both electric & gas if you have gas heat. Otherwise you’re gonna get squeezed in the winter.
