Yes YOU. You packed 7-8 hyperbolic statements into one post without a shred of nuance and some abject lies as well.

I could take the time to provide the necessary nuance or prove how it's misinformation but it would be "tiresome" to do so and I learned previously with you that you don't go away quietly, you just keep shoveling the **** and you have a particular bug up your butt for me.

Tiresome
You need some serious self awareness. I haven’t talked to you since your favorite Nazi quit Maine weeks ago. However, I’ve watched you argue with about 94% of the board in that time. Some would say that behavior is…tiresome.

Did his own words say he created the virus and was responsible for the pandemic?? Because if you read any words other than those and still want him to be hung, you have been captured by the Insane Clown Posse that is running our country into the ground. You don't know jack.
well, it might have been helpful if he would have explained his thinking back then. No one could blame him for making wrong decisions based on the information at hand. If I recall correctly, nobody seemed to know what to do as somewhat evident by the actions taken by different governors.

the difference in our viewpoints is that you seem eager to blame the entire response on Trump, who knew less about viruses than Fauci. I believed what Fauci was putting out about masks, 6 feet and 15 days to slow the spread. That all turned out to be "made up"

You haven't talked about Biden's response in this whole thing...and I'm not blaming him, he knew no more than Trump. But remember, Biden was the one who told us..if you get the vaccine you can't get the virus, and this was picked up by an entire left leaning media. And it turned out to be a false narrative.

My point, no one's hands are totally clean in this entire episode. Trying to blame one person is kind of foolish. Just my opinion.

I will say though that the entire episode about vaccine being the end all be all has played a role in the public's distrust of vaccines. again JMO

How about silenced? All those who were 100% correct about many of the things we know now to be correct were ostracized, shut down, fired and cancelled because they dared to not jump all in to the deep end of the “we’re all gonna die if we don’t do everything we say” pool.
Dude. It wasn’t long ago. We all remember how it went down. Talk to Gemini.

Accusations that Dr. Anthony Fauci stifled scientific dissent during the COVID-19 pandemic focus on the handling of the lab-leak theory, messaging on lockdowns, and communications with alternative experts. Critics argue these actions suppressed open debate, while defenders maintain the measures were aimed at preventing misinformation during a crisis. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The Lab-Leak Origin Debate
    • Early Warnings: In February 2020, scientists like Kristian Andersen emailed Dr. Fauci noting that parts of the virus genome looked potentially engineered.[1]
    • The "Proximal Origin" Paper: Following teleconferences with top health officials, authors of the "Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2" study shifted their public stance to favor a natural animal origin, which Dr. Fauci then cited from the White House podium to dismiss lab-leak theories as fringe. [1, 2]
    • Congressional Findings: Investigations by Republican-led committees later argued that high-level officials actively downplayed and worked to discredit the lab-leak hypothesis early on rather than treating it as a viable scientific inquiry. [1, 2]

Lockdowns and Policy Disagreements
    • Private Influence vs. Public Stance: Newly revealed pandemic-era diary entries showed Dr. Fauci privately taking credit for pushing local and national leaders to close schools and businesses in March 2020, despite later public statements downplaying his direct role in enforcing sweeping lockdowns. [1, 2]
    • Marginalizing Alternate Views: Critics contend that by aligning with a single consensus supported by institutional bodies, dissenting epidemiologists—such as the authors of the Great Barrington Declaration, who favored targeted protection over broad lockdowns—were publicly labeled dangerous or dismissed by Fauci and other government health leaders.

Yawn, I'm over battling this nonsense for today. You should seriously ask yourself why it's ONLY people on the Right continuing this parade of misinformation.

The cumulative COVID-19 death rate was lower in Democratic states than it was in Republican states, and it was substantially lower in Canada than it was in the states. And that is the fault of people who did not want to participate in life saving public policy, not the fault of Anthony Fauci.

The generals, members of his first administration and multiple authors with inside knowledge tried to tell you that it would be a historic mistake to re-elect this treasonous, multiple felon to a second term, because we all knew it would lead to four-years of unserious clown shows like we held today. And now that he's destroyed our economy, our institutions, our alliances and faith in our election systems and polling shows him as the most unpopular president of all time, your smug, uninformed *** thinks you can tell me something. GTFOH loser.
destroyed our economy is just a little strong. Our economy is fine, the head of the FED said so yesterday.

Again not to to be argumentative, but a lot of the generals, politicians, authors with inside knowledge told US that Biden was "sharp as a tack", "at the top of his game". Turns out they were gaslighting us! Sometimes you might get a little caught up in your own bias to look at the opposite side of your own argument.

Voters knew about trump..he was president for 4 years before the previous administration. They knew about the chaos of those years. Yet the voters picked him over Harris. I guess there were multiple reasons for that, but the majority of voters knew, or should have known, what they were about to experience.

Why is it only far-right types that rage about Fauci?

When elements of the right begin to adopt a position on any topic, the left will automatically disagree and start to throw up road blocks,... If Trump happens to support this position it's treated like an absolute plague by the left... After the right and interested independents there's nothing left.

Fauci had all the information he needed the entire time.

Research on the SARS virus began in 2010. The major difference with the enhanced SARS virus is the spike protein and replication.

again. slight exaggeration...you must not have been around during vietnam era...(protests then make those against ice today look like Sunday picnics) and Johnson's approvals were even lower than Trump's today. So the country has seen things like this, even worse.

lol in no way shape or form do I feel stupid. I hated Covid, lockdowns, etc. Worst time of my life.

I'm also a big enough boy to not put unnecessary blame on literally anyone and everyone because it was a hard time for me. Try therapy, it'll help working through your post covid anxiety more than blaming those who were also just trying to figure out a novel virus.

You weren't duped, you weren't lied to. It was hard for everyone. Grow up and deal with your issues rather than misplacing them on others

well, just to be clear, I didn't say that people's opinions were based on facts. Most Americans wouldn't know a fact about a virus if it bit then in the ***. But there's a reason why people are not getting vaccines today...you want to blame it RFK Jr, fine, "white cult club" notwithstanding, statistic show that African Americans get vaccines at lower rates than whites.

But, I can't debate with you as to why. You think it's one thing, I think it might be that, plus some politics and the experience with COVID...I don't have facts to back up my position and likely neither do you.

I expected Trump would seek retribution...don't like it, but expected it. I also expect that if Democrats take back house and/or Senate they will attempt o get their pound of flesh from republicans....why do I think that? well because some Democrat members have already said they would.

I think it's all childish. Our leaders should be focusing their time on things important to the American people like the economy, affordability, taxes, healthcare, immigration.

From Fauci's diary

January 10, 2020 ~ Chinese publish sequence of the virus on public data base

January 26, 2020 ~ It now appears using epi data and genomic data that the first infection was in early December and was not connected to the market. The infections spread among people weeks before the Chinese reported that they were dealing with a new infection and that gave the virus time to establish itself in multigenerational (sustained) spread. Remember, early on the Chinese were saying that there is no human to human transmission and all the original 27 cases were from the market. Now we know the market was not the source, it was the amplifier.

January 31, 2020 ~ When I got back to my office, got call from Jeremy Farrar who sounded very concerned and conferenced me in with Kristian Anderson, an evolutionary biologist from Scripps. They had also been talking with Eddie Holmes, another evolutionary biologistfrom Sidney Australia. There have been conspiracy theories that the virus was given GOF by inserted mutations and deliberately or accidentally released in Wuhan. One theory was written by Indian investigators that HIV sequences were inserted by a Chinese person in Canada and released in Wuhan. Everyone thinks that is crazy, but the Farrar phone call was different. The people on the phone felt that the mutations around the furine cleavage site of the spike protein could not have occurred naturally since it would require an evolutionary “jump that they found nowhere in bat isolates. They bring up the possibility that this could have been deliberately inserted and either accidentally released or deliberately released by a crazy person in the lab, the former being the most likely. Jeremy was calling me for advice. I suggest that we get a larger group of qualified evolutionary biologists/virologists together under the auspices of a convening body and carefully look at this.

February 1, 2020 ~ There was not total agreement about the likelihood of deliberate insertion. Ron Fouchier said he was sure that this could occur naturally and we should not waste our time and divert effort to pursue this. This is expected of him since he was the original GOF person with Yoshi Kawaoka. Also, Christian Drosten was with Ron; the rest felt that deliberate insertion was possible and given the fact that Dr. Zheng-Li Shi at the University of Wuhan has been working for years in GOF in coronaviruses to allow adaptation of the spike protein to bind to the human ACE2 receptor, we could not let this go.

EcoHealth Alliance and WIV

In 2013, DASZAK was a coauthor of publication "Isolation and characterization of a bat SARS-like coronavirus that uses the ACE2 receptor" with Zhengli SHI and Ralph BARIC. This paper is of significance due to the first reporting of a SL-CoV-WIV1 (SARS-like coronavirus WIV1) binding to human cells and infecting them. https://www.nature.com/articles/nature12711#Sec2 Essentially, DASZAK and collaborators at WIV created a bat coronavirus capable of directly infecting humans. A follow up article published in Nature magazine on 12/12/2015 titled "Engineered bat virus stirs debate over risky research, Lab-made coronavirus related to SARS can infect human cells" debates "whether engineering lab variants of viruses with possible pandemic potential is worth the risks." https://www.nature.com/news/engineered-bat-virus-stirs-debate-over-risky-research 1.18787

What a stupid a.ss take. What if a group of Dem senators promised to jail your grandfather for years over something that can't be proven and reminded your grandfather that if he lied at the hearing that intended to trap him, he'd be brought up on perjury charges. Are you telling me he wouldn't take the 5th too? You're lying if you're pretending not to understand that fact.

Fauci has testified over 20 times about the pandemic but that's not good enough because Trump needs a scalp to be satisfied and Fauci isn't going to willingly give it to him.

Sit your screechy azz down.

Look at his face during the hearing. It's like he was caught red handed. He is a disgrace. Just like you.

I mean, obviously this is correct in our highly partisan society. However, being anti-conspiracy theory (which this thread is full of) shouldn't be political. And yet, maga and the right have embraced conspiracy theories as fact. The left doesn't embrace conspiracy theories because they're anti-science and everything that embodies the left
So, what would you consider to be a conspiracy? That the virus stemmed from the lab named after the virus? Because anytime anyone mentioned the idea that the virus may have came from the lab where it was examined, they were routinely called conspiracy theorists and kooks. Not even saying that's what they thought. Just a mention of it, made people (mostly on the left) lose their minds.
Prompt: What were some things that ended up being true during covid that were considered to be conspiracy theories at the time?

Several high-profile topics initially dismissed or suppressed as "conspiracy theories" or misinformation early in the pandemic were later verified as facts or acknowledged as legitimate by mainstream authorities. [1, 2]

1. The Lab Leak Hypothesis is a Credible Possibility
  • Then: In early 2020, major scientific journals and social media platforms heavily dismissed the idea that COVID-19 could have leaked from a laboratory, labeling it a conspiracy theory. Major platforms even banned users or censored posts discussing it. [1, 2]
  • Now: While it remains a subject of intense scientific debate alongside the natural spillover theory, major U.S. intelligence bodies—such as the FBI and the Department of Energy—have concluded with varying levels of confidence that an accidental lab leak is a plausible source. [1, 2]

2. Covid Vaccines Do Not Completely Stop Transmission
  • Then: Early public health messaging heavily implied or stated directly that getting vaccinated would stop people from catching and spreading the virus. Questioning whether the vaccines stopped transmission was frequently flagged as dangerous anti-vaccine misinformation. [1]
  • Now: Public health officials and pharmaceutical companies openly acknowledged that while the vaccines were highly effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death, they did not prevent people from becoming infected or transmitting the virus to others. [1, 2, 3]

3. Cloth Masks Provide Very Limited Protection
  • Then: Early in the pandemic, the public was told that homemade cloth masks and bandanas were highly effective barriers to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and questioning their utility was often treated as a rejection of public health guidelines. [1]
  • Now: Health agencies eventually shifted their guidance to explicitly state that cloth masks offer very little protection against aerosolized variants. Experts and organizations like the CDC began advising the public to ditch cloth options in favor of medical-grade N95 or KN95 respirators.

4. Vaccinated Individuals Face Risks of Heart Inflammation (Myocarditis)
  • Then: Early claims that the mRNA vaccines could cause heart inflammation were heavily dismissed online as unfounded internet rumors or anti-vaccine scare tactics.
  • Now: Global health agencies officially recognized a small but statistically significant risk of myocarditis and pericarditis, particularly in young males, shortly after receiving a second dose of an mRNA vaccine. The risk was added to the official warning labels for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Again, some of these things (like the lab leak) are not facts, they are simply plausible. Fauci is on record in his diary and publicly that it could be plausible (even ordered an investigation)!

Others of them were corrected when more information was given and discovered. Nothing that you posted here is a gotcha, nor does it prove lies from anyone, and if they were lies, it was from the Federal Government and not from one dude.

I think we're talking about different things, because I simply don't have any anger towards anyone about guidelines and recommendations changing as time went on- why would I? Why would anyone? It was a novel virus

Because the Chinese haven't cooperated, without that there is no way to prove it escaped from a lab. Theories and suspicions are not facts.

Question for you : Why is it only far-right types that rage about Fauci?
Ghee, I wonder why the CPC police state didn't cooperate?

The existing evidence, including the CPC coverup, the words of Chinese and US scientists, and assessments by DOD, CIA and DOE provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

A better question is why leftists aren't upset about Fauci given his diary and all the damage he did.

You give the electorate too much credit. But I guess yes, his voters knew he'd hate and harass the people they hated also. About the extent of it.
… no … that isnt the extent of it. Trump’s numbers improved across every demographic from 2016 to 2024. Sure “his voters” came out in droves, but Independents and swing voters also voted for him. Before you go there, how those same people feel about Trump today is irrelevant. The fact remains that the electorate looked at who the Dems put up, looked at their platform, and said “Naw, I’m cool … I’ll go with the devil I know”.

This Republican-led Congress has practiced zero oversight or accountability for Trump. They literally do nothing and let him get away with anything he wants. We need Democrats to be back in control to stop some of his ******* stupid-*** decisions that have put us in a terrible position.

You know, Ned, the stuff you voted for.

again. slight exaggeration...you must not have been around during vietnam era...(protests then make those against ice today look like Sunday picnics) and Johnson's approvals were even lower than Trump's today. So the country has seen things like this, even worse.
Not true, Trump is a unique, one of one outlier and will go down in history as the most hated and worst president of all time. Johnson is remembered as a good man, Trump will never be.

" Lyndon Johnson did not have a lower approval rating during comparable low points than Donald Trump does currently, though Johnson did hit 36% to 42% at various difficult stretches of his presidency (such as when he dropped out of the 1968 race) and finished his term around 44%–49%. Current polling tracks Donald Trump's approval hovering between 34% and 37%, which places his active numbers lower than Johnson's general averages and late-term marks. "[1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

destroyed our economy is just a little strong.

Can you share links to the generals and authors who said that or does it just sound like a good thing to say for a both sides argument?

That's easy. They care about party over country. They don't believe in sovereign borders. They definitely do not believe in our current form of government or in capitalism. For the most part, they are Marxists in one form or another.
