Probably an awareness, at least in this case, that defensive line is our biggest weakness right now. Also, we have new coaches who probably see in him more of a skill set suited to the defense. What the f*ck is going on with these changes?
NU gave him a first look on offense. Other teams recruited him primarily on the defensive side of the ball, probably his best fit. Honestly didn’t think he’d be on the line, but maybe he can separate there eventually. He’s an elite athleteWhat the f*ck is going on with these changes?
Who?What the f*ck is going on with these changes?
Might be easier to get on the field early as a D lineman.NU gave him a first look on offense. Other teams recruited him primarily on the defensive side of the ball, probably his best fit. Honestly didn’t think he’d be on the line, but maybe he can separate there eventually. He’s an elite athlete
He was an elite athlete out of Murray Kentucky. He was WR last year but most were recruiting him on Defense. But he was 6’4” 235 not sure I have ever heard of a WR changed to a DL?Who?
Edge I imagine. It’s think he’s listed heavier than that now. We list a couple of guys as DL who I would say are really linebackers. He was an elite athlete out of Murray Kentucky. Ya DL today means different things I guess. . Randy Gregory was 6’5” like 245 .Edge I imagine. It’s think he’s listed heavier than that now. We list a couple of guys as DL who I would say are really linebackers.
At least we know Carter can catch passes….. not sure about jones.maybe we move our new 250lb wr to de too?
Big assed WR to edge. He would basically be an outside backer. Niles Paul went from WR to TE in the NFL. Quincy Enunwa could have played edge for us back in the day. Dude would destroy people given the opportunity.WR to DL? Man. I don't know much, but thats an interesting transition. If he has a motor and bricks for hands, maybe he amounts to something after a couple years. Looks like he played a lot on D in high school.
Smith came when we had a world-class PED Program. We won't see that again. Here's hoping he's the second coming of Neil Smith. Smith was something like 6'5" 200lbs when he arrived on campus.
Changes show 2 things
Lack of depth at certain positions and/or
Opportunities to get athletes on the field.
Used to put best athletes on defense.Changes show 2 things

Yeah. Nobody else was doing PEDs back then…..Smith came when we had a world-class PED Program. We won't see that again.
Yeah, he definitely looks the part. Rangy, athletic freaks go high in the draft every year. Maybe this is something that "his camp" advised him to do? Based on pass rushing potential alone, he's probably one of our best future NFL draft prospects which is not saying much.NU gave him a first look on offense. Someone took him aside and explained his fastest path to being a star. If he likes violent collisions, this could work great for himHe was an elite athlete out of Murray Kentucky. Yeah the staff didn’t force him to move. He’s young. He should try anything he wants now. Too many people pigeon hole themselves academically and professionally. Athletics can be the same. The number of guys in MLB I see playing a position who were drafted as pitchers and vice versa still amazes me. Catchers winding up as outfielders etc. In football it isn’t all that uncommon for linemen to switch sides. WRs or RBs likewise.Yeah, he definitely looks the part. NU/Boyd was an early adopter and used cutting-edge chemistry and protocols. Others might have been doing it, but we were doing more and better. Those were the relatively early wild west days of PEDs, and nobody today is quite that gonzo, which is the point of this thread: JJ isn't going to blow up physically like Smith did.Yeah. Nobody else was doing PEDs back then…..![]()
I don’t think what Boyd did better was just the chemistry. It was using training techniques to maximize what that chemistry did for you. I’ll remind you that those PEDs in the early days were not illegal.NU/Boyd was an early adopter and used cutting-edge chemistry and protocols. It was both, and Boyd was smart about PEDs.I don’t think what Boyd did better wasn’t the chemistry. It was using training techniques to maximize what that chemistry did for you. I’ll remind you that those PEDs in the early days were not illegal.
