How are we feeling about NRF season ticket pricing?

I have an honest question about etiquette when selling tickets to others that post on this site. Do you sell the tickets at about cost, or do you ask for what the market is generally going for? I really would like to go to the Penn State game, and I still may, but logistically it does present several challenges for me to get to that game. I would imagine that is the most valuable ticket of the season (being the first game in the stadium and a big opponent). When tickets were more affordable, I generally just tried to get cost for tickets, but is it bad form to try to maximize return on the more valuable games now?

Maximize your return but keep it purple if possible. That is the premier game in the STH package. You are taking in all the losses from the lower attended games where you couldn’t make back face value. This is a once in a lifetime event.

I have given away tickets to people on this board. It wasn’t worth the hassle of collecting $20 or so. They generally buy me a beer or something else. I have also go a lot of free tickets to NU events. One poster in particular takes care of me and only asks that I listen to his bad puns and jokes!

NU has decided to maximize their revenue with very high prices relative to their peers. I will try to do the same with my unused tickets. I will be unable to attend PSU and hope to recover the majority of my season ticket's cost for this "once in a lifetime" event, hopefully purple. Some may consider this plan disloyal to NU , I feel I am simply using the same tactic that NU has employed that displaced many longtime STHs. I do not want to "screw" a purple fan but NU has left many NU fans with sore rears. My single ticket is a 50 yard line ticket that cost more than my previous 4 tickets at the old RF

Do what you want. Don't fret about what a handful of senior citizens here think.

My STH partner is going to the PSU game, but I am going to the Iowa game. I assure you, there will be a LOT of the wretched refuse of the teeming shore of the Mississippi,.Missouri, and all points in between.

Re secondary market, I'm casually interested in the lakefront games but didn't want as part of STH package. Feels like they are playing chicken with ticket buyers: buy STHs or stay home. No single game tix yet. If they try to get cute with the lakefront games, there will be 5k people there for SDSU.

That's what I'm hoping for. I see a few STH (probably resellers) have a few tickets for sale for the SDSU game, but I'm not gonna drop $350+ per ticket. Maybe someone here wants to sell theirs for face value? Chicago is close enough to drive and make it a vacation, would love to get to the game.

And I always buy the cheapest ticket I can anyway. Season Tickets seem like one of the worst value propositions in sports… not just for our program, but in general.

That being said, these seats won’t sell themselves, and I respect hustle.

Just block them if it bothers you, there might even be an opt out setting somewhere in your profile. I never get texts from NU.

Depends how popular your team is and how willing you are to sell tickets to big games. For NU it's a bad value, for the Bears it can be a good one.

I don't buy season tickets as an investment, I buy them so I can have consistency and get a few perks along the way.

This type of forced premium pricing is widespread now, with airlines, etc. I get it, ifor NRF, if you get 10 people to buy 500$ seats, vs 100 people buying 50$ seats, it requires less infrastructure (people, cost) to support 10 people. Fewer hot dogs? These people ain't buying hot dogs.

It's about money, but somehow not enough money to compete for top level football and (especially) basketball players

Well it’s a choice for almost everyone. It’s been pretty well documented that there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Yet, some of these people that want to cheer are reluctant to sit pretty much anywhere except mid field. I refuse to believe the majority of these fans ( many NU Alum) would suffer a severe financial hardship at $100 a ticket!

I don't think it's causing anyone a financial hardship, but I do think people question the value proposition even if they "can" afford it.

Anyway, like I said, is what it is. People will do what they're gonna do, one way or the other.

Lakefront tickets seem to be reasonably priced by comparison to last year, Sideline seats around $95-115 for SDSU and about $35 each higher for Colorado
