The notion that much of politics is about who deserves what is a relatively recent take on our history. That notion assumes that people are entitled to the product of other people's labor and production without accountability for their own lack of effort. Socialists never quite explain why it's OK to effectively punish people who do everything the right way, make good decisions, and work hard in order to provide the same benefits to those who don't. I'm not talking about people who aren't able to take care of themselves. There needs ti be a safety net. Other than that, there are no guarantees in life.
