Actually not bad, nice humour throughout and pretty decent adaptation in my opinion.

Yeah, not bad. Too heavy on the animation with some characters, and used some others too much/little (Beast Man should’ve stood in for the goat guy’s time), but better than I was expecting.

Thought it was silly as hell and couldn't make it through about 15 mins
Yeah they really sillied up the cartoon about a muscle man in a loin cloth on a green tiger that fights a guy with a skeleton face with his friend Fisto and with the help of a magical alien creature with a circle on his frock. Really should have gotten Scorcese to direct it to ramp up the realism.

Hey one of those things got (mostly) left out of the movie!

I mean, that's not too bad of a point, but even in fantasy/sci-fi, you can only ask people to suspend their disbelief so much. Like in Harry Potter, I was good with the wizardry and magical creatures and basically parallel world, but when one of the most famous magicians in the world also went for the homely ginger girl that was also poor, it just got too silly for me.

I thought it was great. Finished it last night. I was a huge fan in the 80s, had all the action figures, the Castle of Grayskull, everything. So it was very nostalgic for me. That was all I wanted it to be. I wasn't expecting Forrest Gump or anything, just a fun trip down memory lane. I liked it. It was cheesy on purpose, because the cartoon was cheesy. People take this stuff way too seriously. I wasn't a fan of all of the sexual jokes, but I get why they are there. It just made it uncomfortable to watch with my kids.

I just picked up watching The Night Manager. Has a James Bond vibe and has Hugh Laurie (Dr House) as the villain. Interesting that it took 10 years to go from season 1 to season 2.

It's a great movie if you have boys under the age of 7 or so.

It's a little scary, has some violence but not gore, and the kids don't understand the crude humor yet. So you can actually watch it with them and not be bored out of your mind.

I watched it sunday with my daughter...it wasnt too bad. It probably wasn't good enough to warrant a sequel, however. Shame, cause it was way funnier than i thought it would be

Tell me you didn't read the books without telling me you didn't read the books.**

This was mostly a casting and pacing issue for the movie. They really should have re-cast the part. On top of that, for pacing and time they just had to cut out the backstory of the time period where Harry starts to desire her but wont act on it out of loyalty to Ron. She dates all around, is basically the "it" girl of their class, borderline ho. Also, Harry never considered himself as famous etc. It made perfect sense to fall for her. The movie just had no chemistry between them.

I wanted it to be more like a Batman movie I guess.....to me, both times I watched it, it was like a cross between Anchorman and Game of Thrones if that makes sense....

It a kids cartoon brought back to life from the early 80's. It was my favorite as a 4 year old ( just guessing there) and it's kind of corny as 45 year old man. I don't know what people expected there.

Man, was not expecting a rebuttal to that one. I'm sure @CochiseCowbell appreciates you making his LOTR obsession look that much cooler.

But if I'm going to step up (or down?) to your nerd level, even aside from the fact that (1) they cast her when she was in elementary school (so even if they were having the weird thought of, "we need to cast somebody who is going to be believably attractive when they are 15 or 16" or whatever age she'll be when they get to the part dealing with her and Harry, not sure how accurately you can predict that and you still need the elementary aged girl to be able to act in the meantime), and (2) they are british so you have to judge them on a different scale (the occasional liz hurley not withstanding), I thought it actually worked fine in the movies. They were still young (or at least looked really young) in the movies, so trying to focus on attractiveness would have come off weird I think. And it just further treated Harry Potter as a too good to be true hero. Not only is he heroic and the perfect friend (ignoring that whole hooking up with his friend's sister thing), he's not even a typical hornball teenager chasing after whoever looks good but is instead just focused on personality and character, even if they are unattractive and/or poor.

Speaking of movies that are just fun with no pretentiousness, did anyone see The Wrecking Crew on Amazon? It was great. Just dumb explosions and one liners. It belongs with the Commandos and Tango and Cash’s of the world.

He-Man was my favorite cartoon as a 5 year old. I found it incredibly nostalgic and really enjoyed it. It hit the mark perfectly I thought.
