A few weeks ago, the Big 12 announced a groundbreaking corporate sponsorship with Monster Energy that is expected to yield the conference $20 million annually. Each school is expected to get about $1 million/year.

OSU just secured a deal with JPMorganChase that will yield them $17 million annually. Big 12 gets $20 million for entire conference. OSU gets $17 million all for themselves.

It leads to the question: who could we get for a corporate sponsor? Anyone? The most well-known brand nationally headquartered in South Carolina is Denny's.

Yeah, but they aren't SC corporations. We aren't getting a global brand.
No, but hey are two of the best corporate partners SC has ever had. BMW's GSP facility is their top producer of vehicles worldwide and Michelin's North American Headquarters is in Greenville and they have plants all over the state.

Yeah, it'd be utterly massive for us, but I doubt we could even pay them to let us wear a brand patch.

JP Morgan Chase isn't based in OH, so I don't know that our reach would only extend to SC companies. The aforementioned BMW and Michelin would be logical choices, especially since they are both consumer retail companies that benefit from TV advertising. Another candidate would be United Community Bank, based in Greenville and with locations across NC, FL, TN, GA, and AL. They would almost certainly be interested in marketing across SEC TV broadcasts. Also, the sheer volume of large southeastern companies (Home Depot, Lowe's, Chick Fil A, Georgia-Pacific, Zaxby's, AT&T, Aflac, UPS, Publix, Duke Energy, to name a few) would also create opportunities. They can't all be on Georgia's and Alabama's jerseys, but may still want a presence on SEC broadcasts.

Yall gotta stop. We were toast when this thing started. You can't win bringing a plastic knife to a gun fight. It's just not in our cards. There isn't anyone with that kind of money willing to throw at this football team. Maybe you can convince Elon or Bezos they can land their space ships at WB for some money. Just do yourself a favor and stop.

You don't think?

Home Depot University of Georgia football, presented by AT&T at Aflac field sponsored by UPS featuring Georgia-Pacific's UGA XI and the Duke Energy halftime show with the Chick Fil A sound of Southland Band and the Zaxby's dancers.

Well, when you put it like that, it does sound entirely plausible.

This is just one more way that programs like ours will get left in the dust. The blue bloods are all gonna sign pretty massive deals like OSU. If OSU is worth $17 million to a sponsor, what are we worth?

Yall are delusional. OSU is a brand name. We are navel lint. We can probably get free medical tape from Prisma.

Home Depot, Chick Fil A, Georgia Pacific, Zaxby's, Aflac and UPS are all based in Georgia. Publix is based in Florida. Duke Energy is in North Carolina (I'd think Duke University would be the logical fit for them if they decided to get into the corporate sponsorship of college sports). If these companies decided to throw money at a college team(s), I think they would go for the programs that top the SEC in viewer numbers. Unfortunately, South Carolina isn't one of those programs.

If it wasn't clear from my first post, I understand all those companies are based somewhere in the southeast other than SC. Obviously, Georgia and Florida will have their picks of some major companies. But they each only get one patch, so that leaves literally hundreds of other recognizable brands around the southeast who _might_ be interested in putting a patch on an SEC jersey. No, I don't expect us to land Home Depot or AT&T, but I don't see any reason to think we are limited to SC companies.

Only one patch? Maybe that is true now, but the chase for dollars will change that soon.

Ha. I'm sure that's coming. I also think it's just a matter of time before some program sells their mascot to the highest bidder (look forward to watching the Southeast Missouri State Big Macs).

But for now, we're just talking about one-year deals, so not every company who wants a uniform patch will get one. And I stand corrected: It's not just one patch, but two that the NCAA has approved.

Anybody know if the OSU and ND deals are for _exclusive_ branding? Do SoFi and JP Morgan Chase have sole advertising rights on those jerseys, or will they have to share space with other advertisers?

I've never understood actually going out for what I eat at home everyday. I like food I don't get at home when going out.
I feel somewhat the same. Part of it, I guess, is people can get different things. I can get fried chicken, wife can get meatloaf, kids can get something else. Nobody's gonna make all that in one meal at home.

I'm more for ethnic foods when going out. And what's the deal with biscuits around here. I've always enjoyed biscuits. For breakfast. But for most other dinners I really miss the big fat yeast roll. It just seems more civilized. 🙂

I grew up on Western Steer and Ryan's. I'd love to see what the quality of Western Steer was back then. I remember it being worth going to, but we normally cooked good steak at home. Catawba Fish Camp was the bomb back then too.

Oh, man, I loved a Ryan's salad bar and steak rolls.

A yeast roll is fine, but if a biscuit's good, it's good at 7am or 7pm.

After reading the post about corporate sponsorships, I imagined Lizard's Thicket or Maurice's Piggy Park patches on Gamecock jerseys, not my first choice.
