This is more proof that Steph Curry is the most impactful player that the game has ever seen. He is the ONLY player ever to have his own exhibit in the Hall of Fame WHILE still actively playing. When I created the "Official Steph Curry is GOAT" thread, I knew Greatness. The Hall of Fame clearly agrees. The exhibit opens today; there is no surprise that attention ***** Lebron decided to announce on the day that the true King, Steph Curry's HOF exhibit opens. I need to make the drive to Springfield to bask in the aura of Greatness.

HOF Agrees that Steph is GOAT

Lol I remember the OP on the old forum. Curry being the GOAT is laughable.
Lost my username and thread in the migration. If this is not clear-cut evidence that Curry is GOAT, then I do not know what to say. This just confirms what I already knew. Yes, I was formerly "Lakercat". I just made up some BS name on the fly, and added "916", since that's my birthday (Sept 16).

A Laker fan worshipping Curry is just wrong to me.

Let his member breathe. Jesus. Get off his jock. He’s good but you are the only one on the planet that thinks he’s the GOAT.

SC is the best shooter to ever do it.
But not best player.
And it makes him hard to rate. It's a hugely important skill, and there's no question he's better at it than anyone else who has ever played. It's not even worth a discussion- he's the all-time leader in 3 pointers made by 858 over James Harden and 1275 over Ray Allen, who is third. But he's also over 42% for his career, which is 14th among players who qualify, but that comes on more attempts than 1-6 on that list combined, and the only guy ahead of him who had even 1/2 as many attempts was Kyle Korver. And he leads in career FT%.

He revolutionized the game. The idea that "old rules" defenders could just body him and shut him down is laughable. They would have no idea what to make of a guy who had to be guarded 35 feet away from the basket because he was more than capable of consistently hitting from there if left open. And his presence always makes his teams better. It's an automatic thing because he distorts what the defense has to do simply by his being on the floor.

But he was not capable of just taking the ball and dominating a game the way that Jordan and LeBron were, and he wasn't likely to go out and hang 50 on a team (as long as they took measures against it) the way a lot of great big guys could. He's his own unique thing, never likely to be replicated.

He’s a hell of a shooter, and at crazy volumes at that. But he’s not statistically the best 3 pt shooter in the NBA. That goes to Steve Kerr who shot 3s at a greater than 45% clip. Curry has an absurd 42.2% career percentage, making over 4,000 3s. He’s hard to compare as he started his career when the 3-or-dunk game came to prominence, so there aren’t many others who have taken near as many as he has. Next elite shooter to Curry in attempts/makes is Kyle Corver with over 2,400 makes at a 43% clip.

Curry is one of the most elite shooters ever, but who knows what the best of other eras (Kerr, Hubert Davis) would have looked like if they played in today’s game. And as a complete player, I find it hard to slot him in the top-10, maybe top-20. That takes nothing away from him, but when looking Curry against someone like Kobe, I think it’s safe to say he’s elite, but not top-10 ever.

You have to consider volume. Percentage is part of the equation. Curry is easily the greatest shooter I’ve ever seen — his percentages, volume and shot diet are absurd. Absolutely one of a kind.

Who says the guys above him wouldn’t have shot at a similar clip if they played the game Curry does? He’s amazing, but that doesn’t make him the best shooter ever (statistically several others top him) or a top-10 of all time.

Yup perfect analogy - guys like Kerr/legler/stockton/hornacek/paxson/stoyakic/etc would have a field day in today’s nba

Kerr pretty much only shot open threes and shot at a lot less volume than Curry. Neither Kerr not Corver could create their own shot off the dribble while Curry takes a lot of contested threes.

Ok, so put Curry in the 90s when defenders could absolutely harass offensive guys. What do his shooting percentages look like? See how that works?

Not really. Kerr and Corver weren't getting killed while shooting threes; they were open and even then they weren't allowed to foul 3 point shooters so Curry would still hit threes or go to the foul line.

I absolutely guarantee that Steve Kerr would be one of the guys who say that. If you asked him to compare himself to Steph Curry, he'd laugh so hard he might hurt himself.

No one played the game like Curry before Curry because no one thought it was possible. No one was audacious enough to consistently shoot from 5 feet or more behind the 3 point line, no one was capable of consistently taking 10 or more a game and hitting them at over 40%. And that's still pretty much true now, over a decade later, because it takes not just great shooting ability, but a lightning quick release, great ballhandling ability, and an ability to hit shots from any angle on the floor. And almost no one has all that.

The guy that Curry most compares to is Babe Ruth. His stature in basketball isn't as high as Ruth's in baseball because hitting is more central to player performance in baseball than shooting is in basketball, but what is similar is that Ruth approached the game in a way that no one thought possible until he did it. Then others started to follow, though none really did at as well as Ruth (and that's likely to be true about Curry in basketball).

Curry is in the lower 50 top players in the league , maybe
Rigggggght. Because lower top 50 players in the league win 6 conference titles and 4 championships. Exactly half of each of those without Kevin Durant, BTW. So Klay Thompson and Draymond Green must be 1st ballot HOF players, right? Right?

Now do Larry Bird
OK.

He shot 5% lower on 1/6th the attempts. His highest % for any single season is barely above Curry's career %, and Curry has 8 seasons as good or better.

Had he played post Steph, he definitely would have been a holy terror as a 3 point shooter. But he didn't, and even if he did, he was never as accurate as Steph (and didn't have the quickness to take so many 3's off the dribble).

I can name 10 guards better than Curry.1Jordan2. Stockton 3.West, 4. Berry,5Bryant 6 Sam Jones 7.Hal Greer 8.Oscar Robertson 9.George Gervin 10.Dewayne Wade 11. Reggie Miller. I would rank Curry about 12. He brings nothing but shooting,as good as that is,to the table where all the guys in front of him were better all around players, most in eras where the rules and the officiating were not tailored for shooters as they are now.

Glad to see others carrying the load of keeping LakerCats Curry drivel in check.

Also, biggest loser of Lebron-to-Philly sweepstakes? Curry. His career is done for. I will applaud him for not demanding a trade, but I think even he knows it's pointless.

The Curry hate is just unbelievable. If Steph played for Kentucky, he would be regarded as GOAT. But unlike most, I can see without Blue and White glasses. At least MJJ knows what he's talking about and can see the greatness in Steph. The GSW FO has let down, if not betrayed Steph Curry.

OK, you lose all credibility when you include Berry, Sam Jones, and Hal Greer. And no, Wade is not better than Steph, nor is Reggie, and I love Reggie. Curry has fundamentally changed the game. Sorry if the truth hurts.

Yeah I’d love to see those guys, Reggie Miller/Tim Hardaway/Ray Allen/Chris Mullin/ Larry Legend/ Peja/Glen Rice/Mark Price/ Dennis Scott/ Nash/ Mitch Richmond all those type guys to play in the game today and take 10-12 3’s every single game. See what their career stats would look like.

Nobody comes close to being as lethal of a 3 point shooter off the dribble as Steph does. He doesn’t need anyone to pass him the ball to get any 3 he ever wants. That’s exactly why he’s so effective.
