What board game do you think you could beat the other HPOTers at?

What board game(s) do you think that you'd have a good chance of beating the other HPOTers at?

I've got two: Backgammon and Stratego. I think I'd have a good chance winning at both vs the posters in here.

Note: I will say that my inclusion of Backgammon is at least partly because I feel it's an older-school game that I don't think many people play any more. It's possible that there's some old-timer in here with their own carved pieces that have been worn out over the decades that could wax me. I like my odds overall though.

Whatcha got?

I'll **** you up in Stratego!! Nobody can counter my bombs surrounding the flag strategy...

I also almost went pro in chess in my younger years. I felt the game was too simple though and chose to venture into video games around that time instead.

You know, I played chess for a while when I was a kid and got to where I thought I was decent at it, and then I played against other people who were actually good at it and I was disabused of that notion pretty quickly. It's like golf or other things where you really do have to put in thousands of hours of practice to expect to actually be good at it: which I didn't, so I wasn't.

I was pretty good at strategi and backgammon, but unstoppable at battleship.

re backgammon one of my freshman floor mates used to play tournaments. His stories about Frank “Pegs” Abernathy left me with something of an inferiority complex.

Jr was told at his new job to familiarize himself with a mission simulator and to “have fun with it”. His mockup game: “the invasion of Maryland”.

Btw, I’m really curious to see who claims risk.
Risk might be one of my favorite games to play if/when I can find someone at my age with ~8 hours to play a game. I'm certain that there are people who are better at it than I am, but I do like playing it.

When I was our high school student body president I had to make an appearance at least once to each club activity. I went to chess club and got my ashole handed to me. It was not my calling.

Exactly.

In law school, my roomie and the three guys downstairs (two from undergrad) used to play until the wee hours. The fifth guy played football at Montana state and was a notorious cheater with sleight of hand when removing armies. Then again when he was an undergrad and he his buddies got hungry, they used to rustle a cow from the open range, so who was I to call him on it?
