Absolutely love it. Pretty easy way to motivate guys. You're only as strong as your weakest link. If you're on the pretenders board then get your äss in gear.

For the sane of heart, here's the actual article link so you don't have to worry about the redirect thing:

This sounds like a system where rewards, positions, and status are primarily earned through ability, effort, achievement, and performance.

I thought this type of meritocracy has been identified as unfair? Someone should contact the Office of Institutional Equity to garner support and protection for those affected, with accountability and appropriate consequences for those responsible. /s

I read a study which showed that while college football players get stronger in college, their speed basically never increases. So all that weight room stuff doesn't lead to faster players.

Totally disagree. Not saying you didn't read a study that said that but there are several player that improve but it's not in great amounts. Teaching footwork, most important, techniques, how to run properly, I uderstand that sounds odd, but that's why track coaches coach. There are some player that can run a great 40 but when they put on all the equipment that goes away. There are players that run the same 40 with or without equipment, why. Just a step in the take off or 40 time can in many csses make the difference in many plays during a game in a large gain or tackle. My grandson, a sophmore high school LT 6'2 289, works on his footwork continually, his improvement from 2 years ago is crazy. Hard work, dedication, mental approach, attitude especially and noticing the small gain of improvement periodically motivates, and encourages athletes, that's Coaching. Peace!!

So the Study was about D1 football players in college. I 100% agree that people like your grandson are going to improve in high school through weight training and speed training. But the study showed that D1 college football players get stronger and bigger, but don't increase speed and jumping ability. It basically implies that these guys had maxed out speed and jumping by the end of high school, and therefore you should recruit speed not try to build it.

I don't necessarily agree with it. It could be that most guys who make D1 worked their assess of in high school and were already max'd out on speed and power. But I did think it was an interesting study.
