Pennsylvania has a ton of old people, families that were in the coal mines, the steel Mills, farms, in the country, and in the city.
Those families all either built or bought their little 1200 square-foot house to raise their families in and then they sent their kids way to college. This kids moved away and started their own families and their parents are still living in that same house.
Not as much economic growth for those kids to stay in the area so that move them the other states while their parents grow old in the house, they built 50 years ago.

My wife and I met in junior high at Southern Columbia. 1n '72 I took a job in NY and we (she passed in 2009) lived here ever since. Both sets of parents lived their entire lives in Pa. So when our boys were born, virtually every holiday etc. meant a trip to Pa. to visit the grandparents. At about age 4 our youngest asked us ''why only old people live in Pa. and at what age do you have to move there."

As I mentioned in previous posts, I am truly sorry about your wife, since you and I are about the same age, your marriage partner was probably around 60ish +/-
LOL..... my wife and I also met in Jr. High (April 10'th) and married in my second semester @ PSU, I was at class in the Hammond Building when my son was born.

We entered 7th grade and a new school joining 3 previously independent school districts. So, you didn' know 2/3 of your new class mates. Shortly after the term began, we were called to an assembly the purpose of which was to elect class officers. Since many nominees were unknown to us, the advisor asked each person nominated for an office to stand up. I was 12 years old. The little boy who got on the bus to go from Overlook to Catawissa never returned home. A little girl stood up, she likely weighed 80 pounds and my life was forever changed. It's a story that most likely don't believe. Gone 16 years, 17 days and 9 months and 64 years after that class meeting.....and she still is with me virtually every waking moment. Some things you don't recover from.

I just spent five days in a PA (Penn State!) hospital. Given the lack of common sense, basic attention to hygiene, and general incompetence I witnessed it's a miracle I and everyone else isn't dead right now. May as well have been laying on a floor of a clinic in sub-Saharan Africa.
We didn't meet in school, my wife went to Conemaugh high school, and I went to Greater Johnstown back when we won most of our football games. And the Point Stadium was filled. Times have changed. My wife and I met at a Johnstown Jets game. We had been married 50 years, she passed away June 10, 24 which was her birthday. We moved to Maryland after the 77 flood, our kids and grandkids live in Maryland.

Spent a few hours in a central pa hospital ER a few years ago. When the nurse came around to collect some blood from me, she had this little tote with all her supplies in. Now given there wasn't much space in there, she had a few options to set her tote down to begin drawing blood. There was a chair in the corner, a small table, the bed itself, the ledge of the window. She instead decided apparently that the floor was the best option to set her tote upon and proceed to collect blood. Because it was now sitting on the floor, she had to kneel down on one knee, gloved hand on the floor to steady herself as she removed the vials, needle and other items she needed. We disagreed on her collecting from me at that point lol, no way I was letting that happen after that.
Not Al Gore, but unlike him I have a strong science background. The folks in Spain and France probably agree with me on my previous post.
What kind of junk science did you major in at PSU? Are you also averse to air conditioning and deodorant?
