Or is it a sport in the same sense as professional wrestling? If the latter, then I totally get it and it’s great.
I have to believe this is some sort of contrived entertainment. They cannot have been playing real basketball. It is simply not possible that two teams of professional all-star players would put on a performance like that if playing for real.Pitiful what some people will call a “sport” to entertain themselves. HS boys basketball is immensely more enjoyable to watch than the WNBA.
Sort of. That was implemented b/c of the all star game that finished in a tie. I remember the game vaguely and I guess people felt like neither team tried very hard to win. I don't think they played comically bad though. The only explanation i could think of was that, as an all star game, it means nothing, so they are literally screwing around.
Didn't baseball do something like the winner of the all star game has their league get the home field advantage in the world series?
Meaning, they were trying to get the players to take the game seriously.
The block by Aja at about 23 seconds is hilarious. Girl just runs into Aja and throws the ball right off her hands. The old airball from 2 ft.That’ll get you up off your couch, won’t it?

Highlights from the WNBA all star game almost look something by The Onion.
I certainly understand that all star games do not actually do what they used to do. As originally conceived, you got the best players across the sport putting on a truly all star performance. But they have long since departed from that. Now they are truly played as exhibition games. The NBA all star game (though it's been a long time since I've seen one) is a joke...the 2014 game had one side score 211 points. BUT at least it had athletic play.True. I was reaching there, just for any kind of rational explanation.
I guess what you're seeing is bad basketball players compounded by it being an all star game.

You're way behind, as usual. Already been discussed.Looks almost exactly like the NBA All Star game
One way or another, it was entertaining. How bad would you feel if you had paid the $200+ per seat to watch that in person?
If I'm paying for comedy, I'd rather have a Seinfeld or FoxworthyHow bad would you feel if you had paid the $200+ per seat to watch that in person?

It's kind of like the transgender issue. You're expected to just nod and go along with it, denying all obvious reality. We're just expected to watch that pig slop and agree that it's good sports.I wonder if the audio catches that one guy just hysterically laughing.
Reminds me of a coworker from a long time ago. He went to watch titanic with his wife. While the ship is sinking, everyone in the theater is crying or somber, and one dude falls off the back of the ship and hits the rotor on the way down, causing it to spin. My coworker said it just hit his funny bone, and in a room full of crying women and quiet men, he just couldn't hold in a loud, hysterical belly laugh.

There are people who swear up and down that the WNBA is good basketball.
The also expect us to believe that Angel Reese is both pretty and a good basketball player. Once again, in denial of all reality. To your point, the phrase "men can get pregnant" has been posted on this very board.
Anyone associated or a fan of that should be embarrassed. I guess they don't want to get hurt. They would actually have to get a real job. It's even more embarrassing knowing they make more money than most of us and aren't even good at the sport. I would be fired day one if I misspelled every word in an important report, which is comparable to not being able to jump 2" off the ground and make a layup.
