Was very low to begin with, unless Cohen wants to eat most of what he is owed next year, which he has already said he is disinclined to do.
Not arguing with you, but when an outfielder misjudges a ball and as a result does not get to it, it has always been a hit. Every scorer in MLB rules that a hit.

The Athletic (paywall) ran a list of its Top 125 starting pitchers. The ranking was highly analytics-based. The Mets current rotation was all there:
#16 - Nolan McLean
#41 - Christian Scott
#59 - Freddy Peralta
#81 - Zac Thornton
#90 - Sean Manaea
Clay Holmes was not there, presumably because he is not now in a starting rotation.
The interesting rating to me is Peralta. As there are 30 teams, he is clearly rated as a 2/3 starter. Assuming there are teams whose analytics are similar, he will bring back a decent return.
Two Mets alumni are in the Top 10 - deGrom at #7 and Wheeler at #8.

He did not seek the role, they called him.
Mets caught lightning in a bottle with Iglesias in 2024, having a career year at age 34. He asked for a multi-year guaranteed contract and Mets were proven correct in not giving in to him. Played for San Diego last year and had his worst year of his career. Was unsigned for all of 2026. While he has not officially retired, I suspect his is done with baseball at this point.

Threw 51 pitches. Results not great but not important. He will make another rehab start on Tuesday. That sets the Mets up to promote him and start him on Sunday August 2, the day before the deadline.
Robert Jr. doing all he can to increase trade value. Polonco should stay on the bench to help his trade value. Any time he plays he brings it to levels of Blutarskis GPA
Soto to IL. Soreness in right calf which has been bothering him for awhile. Earlier in the year, he was on the IL due to problems with his left calf. I guess the calving process can be painful.

I thought it would be Mauricio, or maybe Tauchman who is finally healthy. But I really don't get the Wagaman hate. He is who he is, a marginal major leaguer who is good enough to bring up as a short term injury replacement. The Syracuse roster has a bunch of guys like this. Most AAA rosters do.Wagaman?
The guy you SHOULD be facepalming about is Ryan Clifford, who was supposed to be ready by now, but is not, and possibly never will be.
The guy who really needs the audition is Polanco. He should DH every day. We need him. $$$$
You really think Wags is the best player? Maybe from the Mets farm but I am a big picture guy. We pluck players off other rosters for years. Sometimes you catch lightening in a bottle. We have seen what Wags can ( more importantly can’t do). There are 29 other teams. You really think we shouldn’t try to get someone else not on another teams 40 man roster? Now you are stuck with Polanco and Wags. $$$ Stearns won’t move Polanco.
Wags stats. .162 avg with 2 HRs and 4RBIs in 37ABs. We have batted him CLEAN UP. Please don’t question who I should or should not be upset with. Proof is not only in the eye test but also the stats.
I meant audition for other clubs for possible trade. Robert is much more tradable than Polanco, since Polanco is guaranteed $20M for next season.
To your first question, no I don't think Wagaman was the best choice. I said I expected either Mauricio or Tauchman. I could have added Melendez. Those guys are all lefties. (Mauricio is a switch hitter but much better as a lefty.) I guess they wanted another righty bat off the bench.
Also, you can't just pluck a player from another team, regardless of whether that player is on the 40 man. If you could, every team in the league would be trying to pluck guys like Elian Pena from us! Sure, you can try to ACQUIRE such a player in trade. But is that really our priority right now, to find a 27th man (who will be gone when everyone is healthy) who may be marginally better than the likes of Wagaman? We are looking for prospects, not to strengthen our bench.
Hence my comment about Clifford, a former Top 100 prospect, who in the greater scheme of things is a far bigger disappointment than Wagaman. Although in fairness, Clifford still has time to turn it around.
Last point before I show myself out. We are in no way stuck with Wagaman. He can be DFA'd tomorrow at little cost. I agree that we are stuck with Polanco.
