After reading this Athletic analysis, I watched BTN’s condensed version of last year’s MSU Indiana game. I understand one game does not make a career, but if Chiles can play at 80% of the level he did in that game, his QB rating will be higher than 70th by season’s end. He has the tools to be very good.

He has the tools to be very good.

I am hesitant to get too excited about player film, but there are things to like here v Stone* last year (or his tape v Oklahoma State).

- they are playing against the national champions. Comparison game would be NU v Oregon
- he doesn't get rattled. Lots of pressure, step out of it or take the sack. No fumbles or INTs. -Generally good decisions, even the grounding was a wash v a sack.
- good check downs
- quick release
- stronger arm
-obviously better legs.

*obligatory Stone appreciation comment. He was a warrior. If only he'd been able to aim his spear better

Chiles was Chip Kelly’s choice. I believe Kelly recruited him at UCLA.

Hopefully the team does well. The schedule is brutal but… c’est la vie in the B1G.
