Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer are most likely going to retire at the end of this season.
Verlander has 266 wins and Scherzer has 222. Behind them are Gerrit Cole and Chris Sale at 156 wins apiece. Cole is 35 and Sale is 37.
You have to get down to the 70 win totals to find a pitcher under 30 years of age on the active wins leaderboard. Guys like Freddy Peralta, Logan Webb, and Dylan Cease.
I cannot conceive of another 300 game winner in MLB

And a handful of guys might be lifetime .300 hitters. Maybe none...

I'm not sure we'll see another 3000 k's pitcher going forward either. With 4 days in between starts drops their chances to start at around 30 a season provided they stay healthy. Then, with the pitch count limit, we're lucky to see a starter go 7 innings. Crazy how much the management (over management, maybe) of baseball has become in my lifetime.

With the drive for velocity and spin rate arms are never going to last to reach numbers like we’ve seen in the past.

Saw Maddux get his 300th in San Francisco in 04 and then saw him face Clemens in Houston the following spring in one of the few matchups of active 300 game winners (cubs won). There was an exhibit about it at the Hall of Fame later that summer. Yeah those days are over
