I'm not the first to say this but the Steelers may be erring by bringing Aaron back.

I'm looking at the 2027 NFL draft prospects at QB and the analysts project five or six to go in the 1st Round. Wow! I'd love for Allar end up as the Steelers QB but realistically the Steelers should have said no thanks to Rodgers, not drafted Allar and instead picked someone that will be useful down the road, then let Rudolph & Howard QB the team in 2026 and if one somehow became good then fine, and if not then you've got a high draft pick in 2027 in a loaded QB class.

With Rodgers coming back they're likely not even going to know what they have in Howard and Allar when the 2027 draft comes. So when the 2027 draft comes the Steelers...

a. Will not have an established QB.
b. Will have two unknowns at QB that they'll feel obligated to give a shot during the 2027 season.
c. Will be looking at a loaded draft at QB but not want to draft a QB.

Maybe the best thing for the Steelers is for Rodgers to get hurt early and then they'll be forced to give a long in-season look at Howard and Allar.

The Steelers still think they can win now--they're insane but that's their belief.
Allar shouldn't see the field this year--a lot has to be undone.
If we pick early--we likely will draft a QB.
I would have loved to rebuild years ago but that's never happening--they didn't bring in coach approaching retirement to rebuild.

I agree with your premise. The Stillers went further into no man's land by drafting Allar and bringing Rodgers back. A mediocre to above average season that leads to them missing out on a top 2027 QB because their record is not in the bottom 15 or 12 and/or they feel they don't need one because they have Allar and Howard.

It is colossally stupid because anyone who watched Allar or Howard in college knows they aren't close to a franchise QB who can put the team on their back or simply lead the team and make deep playoff runs or a Super Bowl appearance or win. They aren't even at the Sam Darnold level.

I have said it multiple times that they need to get out of this doom loop of middle of the pack finishes that do nothing toward getting them in position to have a top pick for a top 10 QB. Not tank but "rebuild".

Or with what they have this year they make a run! Wouldn’t that be a change of pace.

A run this year would be nice but that would still leave them with two question marks at QB for 2027 and an even lower 1st round pick in the 2027 draft.

You could be pleasantly surprised and Allar under NFL coaching could become a viable QB. Unfortunately, the way I’ve seen him play the last couple of years, he could end up at best a 2nd or 3rd string backup for a couple of years.

I am pretty confident he doesn't have it. To me it is things like leadership and decision making that will hold him back from ever being a bonafide NFL starter.

Allar and Howard will have to put on their big boy pants. No more handouts. No more, “hey you are a natural” time to step up or get out!!

Allar wasn't able to dominate in college, the NFL defenses will eat him up. Dumb pick by the Stillers.

They need to get a top 10 pick QB and therefore they need to finish in the bottom 10. I would be fine with them going 5-12 (or worse) this year and finishing in the bottom 10.

Nothing equals picking Kenny Pickett. That was really stupid, asinine and idiotic.

Here's what I find interesting. They have four QBs heading in to training camp. Not unusual except normally the 4th guy is a training camp body with little chance to make the team unless something unusual happens, usually injuries. So who's #4? It certainly isn't Rogers or Allar. Mason Rudolph is a luxury to have an experienced QB at an affordable price to insure against a catastrophe, (Rogers breaks leg game 1). I think that leaves Howard as the odd man out. If they saw him as their future guy, why would they draft Allar? They could put Howard on the practice squad, would anyone grab him?
Another possibility is some other team suffers the catastrophe and Rudolph becomes interesting as a trade possibility. Then you roll with Rogers Allar and Howard. Risky if Rogers gets hurt, you're stuck with literally zero experience.
This will all get worked out at St. Vincents. I'm guessing that barring injuries, on opening day it's Rogers, Rudolph and Allar in that order. I think the writing was on the wall for Will Howard the minute they drafted Allar.

It’s like the Franklin boys, be happy with winning most of your games, say 10, and do nothing of importance. GO PITT BEAT JETS!

Steelers fans aren't happy making the playoffs and being one-and-done. Imagine how they'd be if their starting quarterback was one that never played in an NFL game? You seriously think they'd be patient and happy????
