Disagree with this. I couldn't care less about playing Pitt regardless of what conference they're in. Us ending our season with them is huge for them not us.

VT is more than likely headed to the SEC. BC is probably going nowhere and UVA is likely going to the Big 10 as they met with the Big 10 in DC also in June.

While I agree that sPitt is our most natural rivalry and they are an instate school and cross state rivalry to boot I still think it is unlikely they get an offer in the next round of expansion. But a lot of things that were a roadblock to them in the past is no longer that big of a deal.

I would not forget the west - Utah and one or both of the Arizona schools solidifies the western pod of schools and have potential to not dilute the brand. ND and then UNC and Miami or FSU are the best additions that actually add value followed by UVA and GT.

I’m Gen X, but thanks. If they are going to be in the conference, it would make a ton of sense to renew the rivalry. Who would you rather play? Purdue? MD? Rutgers? Sparty? None of them move the needle for me either. I don’t understand some who have a fear of playing Pitt annually again.

There will be at least16 auto bids--likley 24 in a 64 team 2 conference league. Top 3 in each make the playoff.

FBS won't have 64 with 8 playoff teams--I agree about the groups (pods/divisions) but there will be more than 1 from each.

All of that and more, but starting with the academic prestige of UNC nationally and globally, which is why B1G presidents were highly supportive of adding UNC a few years ago in the the previous round of expansion. Both schools are considered to have underdeveloped football programs that will benefit from SEC or B1G money. The state continues to grow in population and both conferences would love to add that market. FYI - I learned in the past that PSU4U is an actual insider on this topic and was very accurate on conference expansion on the old forum. I always defer to his knowledge on this topic.

Clemson and FSU seem to be a package deal to the SEC. Both met with the SEC in Birmingham AL this year. Do not know if it was the same day, I doubt it.

This next realignment seems way different from any in the past probably due to political intrusion, never a good thing.

As it stands now league expansion seem incredibly hot even to the point that several have reported that the big media outlets ESPN and CBS have been involved in discussions with some of these programs, to what extent is largely unknown to writers and the public.

Out on a limb here but I think Miami and ND could end up being travel partners to the Big 10. I also think Miami could be the first to announce to the Big 10.

Announcing and signing a contract are two different things. It seems that this time around programs could announce their intent to leave down the road in a certain year but not have signed any contracts other than maybe some sort of promissory to the conference they would be joining.

I think there would have to be some sort of legal agreement between the program and their new conference without jeopardizing their (ACC) legal arrangement with their current conference.

The only way I see a complete breakaway this year or next is if the Media companies and the conferences step up and agree to pay at least part of the fines and exit fees for these teams. I actually think that could happen in some cases such as a UNC.

Never trust ESPN they are the Media Evil Empire of college football. IMO they will attempt to have all three Florida power teams in the SEC, and they will throw the money around and make any promise to accomplish that if they can. Having said that Miami seems to have little appetite for the SEC.
