- wanted to move SEC baseball tourney;
- got swindled on 9 game schedule;
- got swindled on expanded playoff;
- helped give us rev share;
- moved SEC media days from Birmingham (if anywhere, put it in Atlanta);

Dude isn’t a good commissioner, SEC is being ruined

I didn’t realize media days got moved to Tampa until today. WTF? New Orleans makes more sense if you want to move it. Hell, Jackson wouldn’t be a bad spot if it wasn’t a ********.

What the deal on the baseball tournament and how did he get swindled on the playoffs? The playoffs are expanding, only an idiot would be against that.

It’s perfect for that tournament. Stop.
It's not some unique thing that can't be replicated other places. It would be neat to get to travel to other stadiums, maybe AAA stadiums in the southeast or even MLB ones if the schedule could be worked out.

It's not even centrally located when you adjust for the size of each baseball fanbase who travels, too far East.

The SEC should have announced that they would go to 9 conference games the same year that the CFP was expanded and would only do so if the Big 10 required a Power 4 OOC game for each school annually like the SEC.

I think the SEC Tournament should be moved around (Nashville, Texas, Atlanta, New Orleans would be cool, and Biloxi) or an MLB stadium with roof. I hate late night rain delays.

I like the expanded playoff. Adds weight to matchups throughout the season. It will be very entertaining, more money more eyes…did I mention more $$$,$$$,$$$,$$$?

It really depends on how you look at it. If you want to drive in or fly in and see a couple of games then you can do that anywhere but from my perspective Hoover is perfect. Granted I’m looking at it from an RVers point of view. I usually arrive on Sunday, first game isn’t until Tuesday. Play golf on Monday. There are four RTJ golf courses within five miles of the stadium plus another dozen or so courses close by. If we play late, we schedule morning tee times, if we play early we schedule afternoon tee times. I see people at Hoover that I might not see the rest of the year more than once or twice. Want to watch a game or a few innings, go in the stadium, get tired go take a nap. Someone is always cooking too much of something and last but not least, there is a brewery in the parking lot. It’s an annual vacation for me. That’s going to be hard to duplicate anywhere else.

Expanding the SEC baseball tournament I liked. It gives every school a chance to get to the NCAA tournament. The winner gets automatic bid.

The stadium itself is below average at best. But what it does have is capacity & location. There’s nowhere else that can match those. That said location of the sec baseball tournament is a very minor thing in the scheme of sec athletics.

Should have been done years ago. Conferences should have been deemphasized from the beginning outside of scheduling alignment/rivalries.

Sounds like the exact definition of being swindled. Or should I say punked? Not sure what your angle is here, you say he's not being swindled, but give a definition of him being swindled?

Playoffs expanded, then went to 9-game schedule. Exactly like the plan always was. There were a lot of sec schools that wanted 9 games earlier.

IT's six of one, half a dozen of the other to me. Hoover sounds great for the people that go every year and have RVs. It's pretty mediocre for everybody else. It is relatively easy to drive to for the pre 2012 SEC, but still a haul and hard for the same fan bases every year and terrible for the post 2012 additions. When you get there you are in Birmingham. Fine for a one time thing. But not somewhere anyone wants to go more than once. For what is unfortunately a minor sport like baseball, I can see the argument of just worry about the die hards that come every year. I can see the argument of there are a lot more non-diehards that we could tap into if we moved it around, plus non-die hards would be more likely to go if it was in a better city.

I can’t imagine the media minded spending time in Tampa over Birmingham. No disrespect to Birmingham but Tampa is great.

Correct. All we hear is how baseball is niche, so what does it matter. Let the die-hards have it.

The best way to improve the sec baseball tourney is to make it go away.
I'm not against this, ideally for the sport. Same the basketball tourney and football championship game.

That’s probably where it should stay. Anybody who doesn’t understand moving it from Birmingham probably hasn’t spent much time in Birmingham lately.
Nothing wrong with Hoover, and that area out there by the stadium is growing like everywhere else in metro suburbia USA. Of all the shltty cities in the south, I wouldn't classify Birmingham near the top of that list. The demographic that goes to this tournament prefers Hoover, rather than a downtown. That may change in 20 years. City of Hoover also knows how to facilitate it.

Apparently a bunch of them simply didn't go.

Of course, the event is pointless anyway, so the extra travel just reinforced the decision most likely.

I was referencing Media Days, not the baseball tournament.

Basketball in Nashville next year. Baseball is in Hoover through at least 2028. The city just invested like $25mil on improvements and upgrades to keep the tournament there as long as possible.

He was talking about Media Days. It’s in Nashville in 2027.

I expect that was probably a budget decision from the bean counters & not a reporters don’t want to go to Tampa for a week decision. Just a guess.

The other thing is has is an ABUNDANCE of parking for cars and RV’s
Would be hard to find another stadium with that much on site parking plus it has a indoor fan zone on site and a brewery within walking distance to the stadium.
