People also argue that the earth is flat.
The difference is that my argument has some merit. Hop in the wayback machine and set the dials for one year ago.
Collier was named Western Conference Player of the Month in May
and in June
and again in July. There was significant chatter around the league that she was the leading contender for MVP.
On August 2 the Lynx went to Las Vegas and humiliated the Aces on their home court by 53 points. It was the largest margin of victory by a visiting team in league history. The Lynx held Wilson to just 10 points and 5 rebounds. They ran their record to 24-5 while the Aces dropped to 14-14.
Unfortunately Collier injured her ankle late in the third quarter after putting up 18 points. That injury caused her to miss 3 weeks. She came back for the final 7 games of the regular season. But then in the semifinal round of the playoffs, Alyssa Thomas ran through her like Jay Higgins and completely shredded her ankle.
Prior to those two injuries one could make a very valid argument that Collier was the best female basketball player on this spherical planet.
