I'm not against vote by mail AS LONG AS the ballot is received by election day. I live in Colorado which is very blue but the election laws for receipt of ballots are strict. They tell people not to put ballots in the mail too close to election day because they won't be counted.
States like California intentionally allow ballots to be counted weeks late for a reason: to make it easier to harvest ballots post-election to nudge an election however it benefits them once they know the margins. We all hear that ballots post-marked after the election aren't supposed to be counted but do you really believe that?

Agreed to an extent. If you have a proven medical disability that prevents you from going to the polls - it is your constitutional right to vote. Those individuals should be allowed to vote by mail or even better - a digital means of voting.

But yes. For your average Joe who only does mail in for conveinance, that should be done away with.
No. Only land owners that are men should be allowed to vote.

Live in Washington and we have mail-in voting. I like it. You are required to register to vote so ballots are only mailed to registered voters. State employees working in the Department of Licensing can register people to vote when they get a driver's license. Here is where fraud has occurred as some of these state employees have registered people they know do not meet the requirements to be eligible to vote. The state hands out driver's licenses like candy. That is why TSA requires any Washington resident who fly to have an Enhanced Driver's License (EDL). To get an EDL proof of citizenship is required. This requirement has only been enforced by TSA the last year or so. I've had an EDL for years. An EDL also allows me to go to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean by foot, car or boat without a passport. Only Washington, Minnesota, Michigan and NY issue them.
Mail in voting is so rampant with fraud that civilized western democracies do not allow it. We are an outlier.

But you know how many people would have to be involved in that kind of cheating? Once two people know a secret...it isn't a secret anymore.

So there must be some other form of cheating that is more sophisticated.

Voting should mean TONS of polling places and it should be easy to get there and vote. It should probably be a day off for people too.
Agree. No idea why they haven't done this yet (day off, at least for Presidential election years).

You seem to be pretty moderate politically, I've seen you lean both ways. The left seems very quiet on this topic on the board. Why will not a single Dem Senator support the Save Act when 71% of their party does?

Many on the right consider this the issue of our time. Without elections people can trust, the Republic can fall. Dems screamed 2016 was stolen, Some Repubs screamed 2020 was stolen. Yet, only one party wants to fix it. Why?

No idea...my guess is that most people (sane people) don't actually think that elections are really stolen. The amount of work involved in that and the amount of people that would have to shut their mouths about it, would be incredible.

Make it easy to vote....have an ID...those ID's should be free. Have the polls open 24/7 for 7 days...have the first Monday of voting be a federal holiday and have the Friday of voting be a federal holiday..

Done.

I served as an election judge in Colorado for the 2006 general election. This was the day of showing up in person to vote at the nearby elementary school gymnasium. Wait in line, verify ID against voter rolls (printed paper!), electronic voting machine. I had never done it before but somehow I was chief election judge for that precinct. One funny memory is that I learned my neighbor’s birthday on check in, and she was older than she had claimed.

They gave us training. One day. The unifying theme was that everything was an attempt to prevent fraud. Each precinct had two Dems and two Reps as election judges. We were to overlook each other. We printed out machine counts before open to confirm zero, then again after close. A copy of the precinct results were posted for view before we vacated. Myself and a Dem judge had to follow each other to hand deliver the results to HQ.

After experiencing mail in voting in Colorado, I have to say it is much better. The ballot goes directly to authorities without random nobodies involved in any way. You don’t get a ballot without being registered and vetted. Ballot envelopes are individually printed one-to-one per valid voter. Your ballot envelope doesn’t get opened much less counted unless your signature matches what is on file. You can check to confirm that your personal ballot was received, or counted, or held up for some reason like signature. Two ballots received for same voter is easily caught.

Looking for an honest dialogue with left leaning members. Polls show 83-86% of voters support voter ID and proof of citizenship to vote. Over 70% of Democrats support this. And yet, the Democratic Senate refuses to allow this to move forward. All Democrats in the house voted against this bill. They continue to use their worn out excuses for not requiring an ID to vote while society requires ID much less important items.

(ironically, the Democrat party requires photo ID to enter their convention)

1. Do the left leaning people on this board accept the Democrat talking point that ID is just too much to ask?
2. Do you honestly believe there is no voter fraud and it’s just a coincidence that Democrats don’t want voter ID and still fight to the bitter end for mail in ballots?

Over 180 countries require voter ID. I don’t understand… In all honesty… How someone can support a party that appears to be so corrupt and will not vote for a common sense bill that 70% of their base supports. I am guessing some of you may shrug your shoulders and say ”I disagree with them on this issue… But no big deal.” I see this as a monstrous issue for any republic to survive.

Help me understand…..
Its not the ID that is the problem but rather the anti mail in ballots that is the issue. In my state I have to show a photo ID to vote and then they check the register on line to see if I am registered. We have open primaries in this state. I do not remember what I had to provide in order to register to vote as moved here in 1977 and forgot what I had to provide. When one registers that is when the governmental agency needs to check to see if one is a citizen. No one should have to provide that documentation at the time of voting. If so the lines would never end. I believe there is very very little fraud. What illegal person wants to take a chance of being arrested trying to vote? Time and time again the past six or eight years with all of the audits, almost zero fraudulent voting. And yes I believe only US citizens should vote. Yes I believe voting machines are accurate.

Lived in Washington in 2020 witnessed ballot harvesting in king county. I dislike mail in voting because of what I saw. Otherwise I agree with everything you said and yes the EDL is nice.

I don't know if anyone has considered this, but if you required voter ID it would make it harder to cheat in elections and so it would be harder for people who would lose a fair election to win even though they want to win really bad. Hope this helps.

Is there anyone on this board okay with people showing up to ballot drop off boxes with stacks of ballots? There were 10's of thousands of these boxes in 2020.

That's worse than 3rd world stuff if you ask me.

View attachment 1370085speaking of voting ...when will they announce this Playa has played his last game ?

That's easy. August 3rd is the key date. If his death is announced before then - or unable to serve, retire, etc. Then there's a special election and Trump will get a conservative in there. Keep Bernie's weekend going until August 3rd and then the seat remains open until January. Mitch and other RINO's hate Trump and IMO are sticking it to him on the way out the door. Great pic BTW!

They stripped the Governor of the power to appoint back in 2024. now it goes to Special Election... and if it's after August 3rd that the Turtle kicks it, there's not enough time to get someone in before January.

I think it's because KY has a popular Democrat Gov in a very red state and they didn't want him appointing a Dem. If that's the case - it may have bit them pretty hard.

Why would anyone have to keep their mouths shut? You have to prove it was done and depending on the party involved, half won't believe you anyway.

Look at the mayor of LA race where that republican dude was in second place the night of the election, then all of a sudden a bunch of mail in ballots showed up and low and behold 99% were for the democrat that was in 3rd place.

If you have a bunch of people in on it...they all need to keep their mouths shut. If they don't, it is all over.

I don't have to prove it and you don't have to prove...but if say...50 people are "in on it" all 50 have to never tell anyone...

You said earlier in this thread people don’t believe elections are fixed . If this is the case nobody is going to believe a person who tells them a election if fixed even if it’s true

If they are on the inside? If they are doing it?

I think then a lot of people would believe them.

Imagine someone secretly filming it going on...then releasing it. I mean, that would be a huge deal.

They don't believe it now because there is nothing to believe.

You have to think of it like this...

Someone tells you that your wife is cheating on you...but you don't believe it even though there are SOME signs, like she is on her phone a lot more, or she hangs out in a different room to text, or she all of a sudden has to work late.

But you still are not sure...you believe in her.

Then one day one of your friends is filming her ******* another dude and he sends you the video...then all of a sudden you are like "Oh, okay, now I believe it"

Agree. This has a chance of passing if they focus on just requiring voter id. Mail-in voting is pretty well entrenched now across the states and it isn't inherently bad if done right (ie Colorado). Requiring ballots arrive by election day would be a next step but the US Supreme Court ruled against it already.
The problem with our congress is they never settle for incremental wins. The have a few extremists that always push for too much and end up with nothing.

Arizona mail-in ballots say the same thing, but I don't believe they are denied if received after election day. Not only don't I believe, but I have a suspicion that only ballots that support a certain candidate or candidates are counted after election day. The rest are simply discarded.

The Chicago Dailey mob family stole Illinois for JFK from Nixon. Then JFK double crossed them by going after the mob. Ballot boxes in heavy Republican districts disappeared and lots of dead Democrats voted.
