Can you imagine it the Big House or Bama put a columbarium in the stadium and permitted people to pay big dollars to have their ashes placed their for a period of years (kind of like some famous cemeteries in Europe do)? $100k for ten years in the stadium after death?

There is a lot of unused space in football stadiums. Give it to the dead!!!

Creative ways of raising money. I like it. It beats our retired, but still present thanks to our corrupt president, AD, who barked back at reporters for asking if we had enough money. Something along the lines of "ridiculous, this notion that we don't have enough money, it's exhausting. Enough!"

Typical elitist behavior from a guy who buried UK basketball and let UK football remain mid for 24 years under his watch.

This is true. It's also true that after eleven years, there's not a fan on this planet who knows whether Pope will ever win more than 75% of his games in a single season, let alone return UK to our historical average of winning 76% of our games each year.

That's terrifying to me and should be to any fan who doesn't want us to look like Indiana in five years or less.

Professional sports have gotten more corporate over time and they have all improved.

Money makes things better.

I don’t want to hear all the bellyaching because nobody has stopped watching pro baseball, basketball, or football as they’ve changed over time.

Hell even soccer. Throw American sponsors behind it and all of a sudden cats know who Christian Pulisic is and are upset that he had a bad game!

Let big corporations do all the heavy lifting and paying for things. It naturally forces better more entertaining product because big multi million and billion businesses will not tolerate staleness.

You and I can donate to K fund and whine about offense, coach, direction of game, reffing, etc…coaches, ADs, and League commissioner can poo poo us.

Big Fortune 500 will get their a$$e$ to jump.

There was a story last week where 3 Major SEC football programs have said that they can't keep operating the way they are currently.

So either things come back to Earth or we haven't scratched the surface of supplemental incomes for colleges. Could we have owners? Possibly taking foreign money investments, could college become NFL and NBA owned and be there minor leagues.

As it stands, I dont think anything is off the table. And don't come at me with "Rules" because there are none.

It’s amazing how many people can’t figure this out. Watch the Netflix doc on FIFA. Once they got Coke involved the World Cup became a huge event. Granted FIFA was as corrupt as the mafia, but money makes sports infinitely better all the way around. Just need checks and balances to avoid the corruption. Which, FTR, the NCAA is currently either struggling or ignoring this part.

As several others have said or indicated in this thread, this is the evitable outcome when college sports stopped pretending to be about college athletics and finally accepted, or revealed, that it has been (and will be) a for profit endeavor. (They just have to share some of the crumbs with the athletes now.)

From renaming venerated arenas and fields that honored virtue (Memorial Coliseum) and regional pride (Commonwealth Stadium) to the roster churn that comes from overt pay-for-play, it's no longer the same sport we grew up watching. Although those eras were a lie that we collectively, and perhaps subconsciously, ignored, the ugly was mostly hidden. Putting a Tyson logo on the front of the jersey just makes it harder to ignore.

I completely disagree. I don’t watch a single professional sport now. It’s not about the game anymore. It’s about getting mine, corp greed, and pushed narratives that they want to be true. Also, not a single person in here has talked how NIL has made everything better. Everyone says it’s getting out of hand since money was introduced.

What are you watching?

Whatever it is I promise it is paid for with corporate backing.

I don’t care if you’re off grid. You at least have a starlink internet connection and IPhone to participate on a sports forum. Both technologies made better with money. The forum is paid for by big corporation money and advertising.

The fishing pole and boat you have…the gun you hunt with and knife you use to process meat …corporations made them and marketed them to you. People got rich of your purchases. Those items are improved and way better than the ones from olden days BECAUSE OF MONEY!

As far as how money has made the modern game exponentially better. IU just won a national title. Vandy can beat bama. Uk can compete with Texas.

We have a roster with guys who were good enough to be at Norte Dame, Bama, Texas, etc…

The league is up for grabs. Literally anyone including UK can compete for it.

Also, money has always been involved. It just didn’t get to players pockets.

The good ole days of yesteryear you enjoyed games at KROGER field that had a WOODFORD lounge.

Rupp arena is part of the CENTRAL BANK center.

UK games have always been “BROUGHT TO YOU BY…xyz…” OFFICIAL PARTNERS!

I stopped buying season tickets and no longer contribute any extra donations to the athletic program.

I'm tired of being asked to give money so 20 year olds can makes millions of dollars going to college. To me, it's not worth my money. Guys come in for a year and then bolt for more $ somewhere else. And before you say i would leave for a better paying job, random Joe on the street isn't directly writing a check so I can make more.

I'm not say these kids shouldn't get paid, I'm just saying I'm no longer contributing to it.

Again you do you. College hasn’t been fully infected like the pros have, and like your initial post I speaking of sports and corps. I’m not an imbecile and know how the world works. Athletes in college try harder, they still have something to prove.

Don’t blame the coaches. It was Barnhart that buried the program. Calipari., Stoops and Pope had no chance to succeed after NIL with Barnhart in charge. It’s why he was forced out.
