They won’t be the last ones either. The ESPN/NFL Network agreement has people getting laid off for duplicate roles.

Still pretty shocking for Ravech. He’s been there since the late 80s?

It’s usually pretty hard for me to get worked up about big corporate network dipshíttery these days, with all the other problems of the world and even just in sports. But, this one seriously pisses me off.

Ravech was an institution at ESPN, and one of my all time favorites. I’m in my 40’s, and still remember staying up way past my bedtime as an 8-10 year old and watching Baseball Tonight with him and Peter Gammons covering whatever Ken Griffey Jr. and David Justice did that particular day. As the cherry on top, he was the one in the booth calling all 3 games of the 2021 national championship series, which was a great treat.

17 everything about this.

Dang. That's cold.
Outkick had a source say he was being let go. They contacted espn for comment while Clark was on air. espn didn't want Clark to find out from other media so they told him during a break.

That's the story on X anyway.

Clark I get

Ravech I do not - he always seemed competent at whatever they asked him to do.

Especially with half the "talent" they have on the air these days. They have some really, really bad people at some spots. Ever listened to Kendrick Perkins on NBA segments?

They're keeping the Asian chic that's a "football expert"? And Stephen A? And McAfee? And Beth Moaning? And that buck tooth guy that calls games? And Perez?
There's one difference between Ravich and almost all of those you mention, but it's something we're not supposed to mention (McAfee gets a pass because he generates huge revenues for them).

Looking at who all has been let go from ESPN through the years in these big cullings, I havent really seen any trend.
They let beloved people go, hated people go, white men go, women go, racial minorities go, outspoken people go, reserved people go, etc etc.

Perhaps I am missing something though?

You're missing that they let one young black guy and one old white guy go and somehow they're getting rid of the old whites. That's what patdog insinuated.

The writing was on the wall for Ravech when they lost MLB broadcasts.

Why they keep Eduardo Perez employed is intriguing.

Ravech is one of the best and he'll land on his feet.

I don't understand ESPN. Slowly declines amount of MLB coverage and gets rid of the nightly Baseball Tonight show. Opts out of Sunday night baseball. Then buys MLB.tv from MLB to loop into the ESPN Unlimited service. Fires one of their top baseball voices.

It's like a toddler is in charge.

Does anyone still watch ESPN's studio shows? I haven't in over 20 years. The quality dropped off a long time ago, and it seems like it's been a steady decline ever since.

I don't know why or how Mina Kimes got that job. I'm not calling her dumb, but in my eyes, she simply isn't credible. It seems like she just regurgitates data from PFF. Weird hire.
In their politically correct world she checks 2 boxes with one salary, she's Asian and female so that's 2 minorities with 1 check.

I watched the old school Sportscenter when Eisen hosted and I will watch College Football final on Sunday morning religiously when we are good. So it’s been a couple of years.
