UK loves money, but if you don't work your butt off while there, you don't make it. Graduation rate quite lower.

Less spots for worse students. Probably turn away a lot of kids who should never go to college.

UK is a marginally better school but neither one is great shakes. Historically the people that run the state have never been particularly interested in an educated population. If everybody got too smart, who was going to work in a coal mine or on a tobacco or horse farm.

This is pretty much it. UofL has like 25k students including grad students, and UK has like 38k.

UofL isn't turning away more applicants because of grades. It's because they don't have room for 38k students.

If you're an instate student, it's relatively easy to gain acceptance to both schools.

I have degrees from both and have worked for both in different capacities. Neither are setting the educational world on fire. Both are generally average with some all-star researchers/departments getting notoriety from time to time.
