I've mentioned Mom many times and said the same thing. I think he will have a good season. Just not some savior. You don't think teams will suffocate him? Make sure he doesn't get a shot off?

Do you not remember the last two seasons when we wondered why we couldn't get Brea a shot? And he was shooting 50% at one point in the season. Or Chandler a look last season?

People think Mom is going to be sitting in the corner busting threes all game. Hes going to be pressured and bullied. He's not a creator. At least Brea could get in the lane or to the rim. When Mom doesn't get wide open threes or room to dribble just like Chandler last year then what?

Moreno isn't taking a game over. Do the two guards we got have the ability to take a game over? Maybe. I just don't see it this year. Popes already blowing smoke up our *** talking about Noah.
The players also talking up Noah as well, so I guess we'll just see. I did read some reports that says MNM is passing very well.

Dude. Come on now. Lol

“You don't think teams will suffocate him? Make sure he doesn't get a shot off?”

He had 279 attempts in a very strong Big 12 conference and hit nearly 50% of them. He doesn’t have to be even close to wide open. Watch the AZ/ISU Big 12 tourney game on YouTube.

That's fair. I hope you're right.

Penetrating insight there. The fact is YOU or anybody else knows what this team will look like on a college floor. Lots of questions that can only be answered when we see them play, your statement that we will be also rans shows that perhaps you are the one is stupid
Not going to deny this team could clock and be something. It happens, it’s unlikely given the roster, but it happens. George Mason went to the final four with no stars. Teams have been powerfully without top players before.

Issue is Pope doesn’t put teams together well, so I’d doubt that will happen here. I just think if we look at the data of what we have in Pope and compare it to a typical UK coach especially early in his career, I don’t see anything to suggest this is going to work (if winning big and being a blue blood year to year is what we’re after.

I get it, we all wanted this to work. He’s UK, it’s been fun doing the 90’s and he’s a nice guy. We want it. I do get it. I also get that some people will support coaches not to standard every single time. There are people who were wanting Gillispie to stay forever. I was here, they existed. Lots of people just understand this. He’s not young, he’s got a bad head coaching record, bad tournament history, really bad recruiter. He just had to overpay like mad just to get players that should easily come here. Can’t do that every time.

I don’t think anyone is stupid for calling it what it appears to be. I’m more astounded that any UK fan would look at Mark Pope and his record / history and actually come down on people for calling this below our standards when if it’s a decent season. History shows it, he can’t follow it up anyway most likely.

Just ready for a UK caliber coach. Lots of national guys already talking about UK’s prestige slipping and wondering what we will be for the future. We don’t have time for this, it imperative we make a hire worthy of our history and soon.

So this is the weekend all the dumbasses come out and act like morons all at once? Cool.
Quick question. How are those fans wrong for watching the product and calling it what it is and, if history of Pope is any indication, will continue to be? We’re just looking at data, looking at program history, and rolling out the product. Are you sure you’re just not biased and enamored with Pope to the point where you can’t see what’s literally happening in recruiting and on the court? I mean, have you given that any thought at all?

Who are those fans? If you don’t know who I’m talking about, why are you responding with this. I’ve must have caveated multiple times lately Weird you threw yourself into that group. All my posts are still out there. Show me where I’m enamored by Pope.

Doesn’t have anything to do with Pope but the guys like 1987, UKBBNever, Jw and the knew guy that said I sniff my Dad’s jeans. lol.

You’re wasting your time on this one. There’s sects on both sides of this thing that think you have to carry water for their “team” regardless of the facts and if you walk outside those lines, they lump you in with the extremes of the “bad team” that they disagree with.

I can definitely say you’ve by no means been a “Popeist” — you’ve been both critical and fair. That won’t cut it though. You’ll either doom and say Pope has 0% chance of being successful like those folks OR you’ll sunshine pump and say Pope has a 100% chance of being successful like the other folks or you’re a “troll” or a “Pope hater”.

so the answer is no? Youre not seeing any of this wrong, even given the data that is screaming?

I just simply look at what Pope has done in recruiting, I look at his floor ability, I look at his coaching hires (improved however), his 12 year coaching history. His record leading the program with the most resources to date. You tell me, what does that data project?

This post would make sense if I had spent my time propping up Pope. I haven’t.

I'll give you that last years team was poorly put together, but his 1st year? No, that team if healthy had F4 potential, if healthy. Was probably the best put together UK team in the last 5 years.

Pope's first year, that team won and put 106 points on the would be national title winner.....agreed, the potential with that first team was there. they could get in a groove and simply outscore teams.

That is a conclusion without analysis. You may have articulated your assessment of our talent elsewhere and I did not see it. I am interested in how you reached the conclusion that this team is unlikely to have success

How has Pope mismatched the talent on this team?

It was an incredibly well constructed team put together on short notice after Calipari screwed us. Had it remained healthy it likely gets at least to the elite 8.

Suspect Williams may have had more issues with the foot and perhaps even underwent another procedure if in fact he is again using crutches
